Such a crap way to decide a World Cup. Yes but what alternative works better? The players were by and large all knackered and playing for any longer would risk serious injuries. |

Great result for Argentina - the best team won and a fairy tale ending.
Did feel rather sorry for Mbappe - scores a hat trick in the World Cup Final and still loses..

It's just good that France lost. Macron would be even more insufferable if they'd won. They didn't deserve to win anyway.

Football is a much bigger deal in Argentina than in France. Yesterday's defeat will be very soon forgotten in France when as if Argentina had lost it would have been a devastating disappointment for the whole country.

Very true, it's one of the many lovable things about that slightly bonkers country. On our first visit there the driver taking us from the airport came out with this brilliant piece of wit I'll never forget: "Don't worry that you're English, we've forgiven you for the war but we'll never forgive you for the football" |
