It seems Canada isnt very impressed by your sovereignty. Or your idea of what a trade deal is.

We stopped the negotiations on the changes - the decision was made on UK priorities, which makes a refreshing change from when trade deals were negotiated for us on the priorities of foreign countries.

Indeed though its concerning that its not really a UK priority but more of not ditching the EU's stance on beef hormones . Im not sure there is a case for banning hormones in cattle and was used by the EU as an excuse to protect French farmers . If we are doing the same to protect ours we will find the 'free trade' that was a feature campaign tool of Brexit will become another disappointment

It means the UK is not so much in the pockets of dodgy corporations as it is over that way, plus the US as well.

Well all you would end up with is the Canadian system where the consumer gets to choose - the housewife in the supermarket can pick up a tray of hormone beef or (for a bit extra) a tray of non-hormone beef. But apparently choice is not allowed.

The health issues are debatable , the hormones mean beef cattle produce leaner meat which surely make it an improvement on the beef we currently eat The corporations dodgy or otherwise we should be able to deal with as we do with any other . Though I haven't seen this mentioned as an issue .

We have a trade deal with Canada. In part, some parts have already expired EG tariff free exports of cheese and they were one of our main export markets for same.

Though I haven't seen this mentioned as an issue . The EU's banned substances are generally brought about by peer-reviewed science. I see a pattern here where the US will sell food with additives with known health concerns whilst the EU bans them.

Nobody either here in Europe or the USA/Canada is going to knowingly put dangerous foods on the market . The difference is that in North America they look at the probability or likelihood of bad things occurring now or in the future .In Europe they base their reviews on the possibilities . Lobbying also plays a big part in food regulation (I think this is where 'dodgy' corporations come in ) In North America companies and consumers want a longer shelf life of produce where as in Europe its all about protecting the single market

There's actually no evidence about the EU's claims on health grounds, which pisses the rest of the world off. It's all done under protectionism.

Well the EU ban Chlorinated Chicken yet mandates Chlorine in Drinking Water.. ..go figure.

It's not hard to figure it out IF only you listen to the rationale. But you won't so can't be arsed
