Word is that the Tory rebels are generally backing down, bar 1 or 2, and the bill is expected to pass comfortably. Quelle surprise. 🙃 The amendments are still being voted on, are you watching it? Currently voting on clause 8. There will be a debate after all the amendments have been voted on, sadly Jenricks 'Pyjama amendment' failed, which renders the bill useless imo.

I am indeed watching it. I was basing my comments on this report:

11 Tories voted against - hence why the Tories are going to get wiped out at the next election.

11 Tories voted against - hence why the Tories are going to get wiped out at the next election. Well, on current polling it does look bleak for them, but there's still time so I'm not frying my chicken's yet. What I would say though is if you think that people's X is going to be decided over tonight's vote, you've missed quite a lot over the last few years.

What I would say though is if you think that people's X is going to be decided over tonight's vote, you've missed quite a lot over the last few years. I think tonight was the last chance for the Tories to rescue their core support - now they have bottled it. The only policy that notionally divided them from Labour was immigration - now they have shown they are not serious about controlling illegal migration and have actually increased legal migration. So why would anyone who considered that issue important vote for them?
