But Starmer was the boss, the top man the CEO or in this case the head of the CPS.
I am sure if you are anything like me when things go wrong you don't want to speak to the hand-rags, you want to talk to the organ grinder not the monkey.
You go straight to the top, the Fact Starmer was the TOP man then the onus lies with him, not the hand-rags or the monkey but .... HIM.
He has to be accountable NOW, and yes his role as leader of Labour is very much connected, because this CLEARLY incompetent IDIOT could soon be Prime Minister running our country with a disastrous track record like his.
Except that, for 300 years the Post Office have had autonomy in prosecutions. The CPS had no part in signing up files for process. That^^.
The Post Office was the prosecuting body, not the CPS.

Apparently the identified so far figure of CPS prosecutions involving Post office postmasters is at least 38 cases launched by the CPS It's like pulling teeth... CPS admit so far to have found at least three convictions on prosecutions launched by the CPS whilst Sir Keir was big boss - one poor sod got nearly 2 years prison! Of those it had found so far, three resulted in convictions while Sir Keir, now the Labour leader, was director of public prosecutions.
In one case, in May 2009, a sub-postmaster – who has not been named – was sentenced to 21 months imprisonment for theft after pleading guilty.
In a second prosecution, also in May 2009, a sub-postmaster was given an eight-month suspended jail term and 180 hours of community service after pleading guilty to theft and fraud.
In the third case, the defendant was subjected to a curfew and ordered to do unpaid work in February 2012 for theft.

It's adding insult to injury why Labour/the establishment are covering up for Sir Keir, every one knows if this had been a ex-Tory DPP the lefties would be calling for blood.
The fact the lefties Labour are doing all within their power to cover up and shield Starmer is just another slap in the face for these Post Office victims of a miscarriage of Justice, they don't want to play political football with this one like they did COVID, they want Sunak to sort out their mess and then brush it under the carpet.
The typical double standard hypocrisy of the loony left/Labour, a General Election looming and if it comes out Starmer is guilty of neglect of duty in public office it will impact on his success at the next GE, yet they always want to go after the Tories ..... this is how dangerous and dirty Labour have become

CPS was the prosecuting authority in a significant number of Horizon cases - see other posts

And it did prosecute a significant number of these cases, which is why it has now been excluded from significant parts of the current investigation.

Here's another titbit that will interest you.
Why are DPP mainly from lefty backgrounds ...
New DPP Stephen Lindsay Parkinson
Mr Parkinson advised former prime minister Sir Tony Blair and his cabinet on the Hutton inquiry, which investigated the 2003 death of David Kelly, a biological weapons expert. He represented Lord Ian Blair, former Metropolitan Police commissioner, and other officers in the Independent Police Complaints Commission investigation following the 2005 London shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes; and was hired by Rebekah Brooks, chief executive of media group News UK, during the investigation phase of the phone hacking scandal at the former News of the World newspaper.

Lib Dems in meltdown over GB News attacks on Sir Ed Davey as they demand Ofcom probe.......

Ed Davey and Kier Starmer are implicated in this Post Office travesty. Behind the scenes both the LibDems and Labour will be frantically working on damage limitation.
The more that comes out about this, the more it becomes obvious that it's a conspiracy. The post office knew Horizon was corrupted and kept it quiet. It was revealed this afternoon that back in the late 1990's the DWP refused to use Fujitsu's Horizon programme because they considered it to be unsafe. This whole scandal stinks to high heaven and as the following weeks and months pass I'm sure it will be revealed that many people in positions of power knew damned well what was going on but chose to cover their tracks. These people should face criminal proceedings.

I just signed the petition "Hold Fujitsu to account for Post Office scandal" and wanted to ask if you could add your name too. Can you also take a moment to share the petition with others? It's really easy – all you need to do is click these links: To: Rishi Sunak and UK Government Hold Fujitsu to account for Post Office scandal Campaign created by - Do not give new contracts to Fujitsu - Where possible, scrap existing Fujitsu contracts - Use your power to force Fujitsu to pay compensation to victims Why is this important? The firm at the heart of the Post Office scandal continues to be handed numerous government contracts paid for by millions of taxpayers money despite its role in the Post Office Horizon Scandal. It’s even been named a “key strategic supplier”. No one at Fujitsu has been held accountable, even after it was confirmed the accounting errors were caused by the computer system. In fact, Fujitsu has continued to win government jobs worth millions, as recently as last month, despite calls for the firm to be frozen out of any new contracts. They were even awarded a £36 million contract extension to keep running their Horizon Post Office contract until 2025. Enough is enough, MP’s from all sides are now saying Fujitsu should not be handed any more Government contracts after the Horizon Scandal. Let’s show the public agrees. This whole scandal stinks to high heaven and as the following weeks and months pass I'm sure it will be revealed that many people in positions of power knew damned well what was going on but chose to cover their tracks. These people should face criminal proceedings. Blair and Mandelson are both up to their necks in Horizon too , Blair signed off the order despite knowing of known issues with the system In a nine-page document, released on Thursday, he said he sought reassurances the system was reliable from his ministers, and that he received them. He wrote: ‘I sought and obtained assurances as to the reliability of the product being developed. It is now clear that the Horizon product was seriously flawed, leading to tragic and completely unacceptable consequences, and I have deep sympathy with those affected.’ Mr Blair points to a note from then Trade Secretary, Peter Mandelson, which read: ‘There is still some way to go to complete the Horizon project, but the basic development work has been thoroughly evaluated by independent experts who have pronounced it viable, robust... I believe the only sensible choice is to proceed with the Horizon project.’ Lord Arbuthnot, a Tory peer who has long campaigned for sub-postmasters, said: ‘What on earth would such assurance have been based on? ‘Horizon came bottom in eight of the 11 criteria put to the final three bidders - but it was the cheapest. And we now know that Fujitsu itself thought its own software team was a joke.’ A report compiled by the former No10 policy head warned the Horizon project had been ‘beset by problems’ and was ‘increasingly flawed’. Mr Blair flagged his concerns but, he now points out, was reassured by the note from Mr Mandelson the following day. Horizon had already been scrapped by another government department after problems in testing. Horizon campaign Eleanor Shaikh, in a 579-page report handed to the inquiry, said: ‘Blair ruled that the Post Office must purchase a salvaged version of Horizon’, and that he ‘had received multiple communications regarding Horizon’s chequered history’. It added: ‘Right up until the day before the Prime Minister’s decision, the Post Office were vociferous... they wished to terminate Horizon and start afresh with a new supplier.’ www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11477217/Tony-Blair-says-Peter-Mandelson-reassured-Post-Office-Horizon-reliable.html

Keir Starmer got a knighthood for his work at the CPS but he says he had no knowledge of Saville or Pakistani grooming gangs. Now he says he knew nothing about the post masters being hounded by the CPS on behalf of the Post Office.
What exactly was he doing there for this Knighthood?

The enquiry will be a farce before I go into that, lets recount legal reps were advising post masters to plead guilty to avoid prison this is why I have huge misgivings over our state of justice. On the Essex Farm murders after 20 years Bamber is still denied privileges because he says he is innocent and lets not forget the forensic evidence of curtains at the property went missing annoying the forensics team.
Now back to the PO. Having worked in projects in banking I would have lots of questions that the enquiry won't touch.
Who does the check to see what users have user privileges in that system? When was it last done and how many have been removed since the inception of the current system?
Does the system allow for back door ledger entries and if so who reconciles these? No reconciliation and dodgy book keeper would lead to losses and the people not knowing why unless they knew about the ledgers and could interrogate them. Then have an audit trail to identify which users created them.
I suspect the system was not for fit for purpose and neither was the project team delivering it with poor training roll-out.

What exactly was he doing there for this Knighthood?Doing the same as Ed Davey and seeing there was no useful purpose. I have to say they are not alone, what this illustrates is the shortcomings in our political and legal system where mediocrity to the point of dereliction of their duty and even criminality is rewarded with honours and massive bonuses and propelled to greater heights. None of the parties come out of this with much credit but individuals certainly have excelled Lord Arbuthnot for one, iirc Bentley posted that he hoped Vennells wouldn’t be thrown under the bus,she does have a lot to answer for but she isn’t alone and it’s not confined to the post office itself. There will be an election later this year, buggered if I know who to vote for but the horizon is bleak if you’ll forgive the pun but I expect this will soon be forgotten but I hope not or this country can only go further down the plug hole.
