Gary Lineker needs to keep the wolf from the door.. It is the private ownership of the BBC that is the problem, sold off by the Government that IIRC had previously said or indicated that they would not sell it off. A touch of the Maggy's creeping in. It's the fact that people don't have a choice, you can't have a tv and say you don't want the BBC, so you are forced to pay for a service you do not want.
I mean how many of us would subscribe with a fee to this site if we had to pay to read garbage like yours, we'll put up with it if its free, and that's exactly how the BBC should be operated PAYG, (Pay as you go), most people are paying a licence fee for a channel they use the least of.

"The television license is a form of taxation used to raise revenue for the Government to fund the BBC". The BBC is now run independent of government. "Timothy Douglas Davie CBE (born 25 April 1967) is a British media executive currently serving as the seventeenth Director-General of the BBC since 1 September 2020" The License fee cover the use of TV and radio, not just the BBC. Garbage is to those who garbage think.

I don't care about BBC TV or radio, I don't listen or watch either, I don't watch any of the woke snowflake nonsense on the BBC, their box ticking dramas are just virtue signalling lefty trash.
as for any BBC radio, I don't listen to any of that trash either, however I have noticed that most decent presenters have left the BBC due to its wokiness.

A touch of the Maggy's creeping in. who owns it is irrelevant - its that it is supported by taxation.

It's 2023 - we don't need a state broadcaster. Defund the BBC. But your not answering the really important question though are you ? What we all want is QUALITY TV OUTPUT As the BBC is the most watched, and most popular TV channels ( in particular BBC1 ), who consistently beat all the others in the ratings war, why would we want to drag it down. ? Leave the BBC alone, and lets fund it properly By arguing for defunding the BBC, you are putting forward an argument for turning the most popular UK broadcaster into the same as the less popular - so what kind of argument is that. ?

I'm not completely sure that is what all the GBP want. Apart from a discerning few the great majority seem content with any old dross as long it isn't too taxing and doesn't call for a mental age older than 12. American TV in fact.
An alternative approach could be for the BBC to return to its Reithian roots and principles and offer subscriptions rather than depend on license fee income. It could then retire from the race to the bottom that it is currently engaged in.

I recognize your posts as being very right wing and anti-BBC which allows you to put so much anti-BBC personally bias opinion in them. It was a Government decision to fund the BBC by license in the first place. Perhaps it should be called a 'To View TV License'. because without it one is very limited in what one can watch. That might suit you, but people like myself like to watch many different programmes on TV, while in truth I don't watch much on BBC.

The BBC needs to be defunded. I understand filthy Marxist parasites demand more extortion to fund their vile propaganda, so there's no point in wasting time on them. It's a sick corporation and should have been shut down long ago.

That's an almost neurotic comment. ^^^ IMO the further to the right one is politically, the further to the Left the BBC will appear to be.

(Source: Compass by Ipsos MORI, BARB, RAJAR, Yonder) 6.6 billion programmes were streamed on BBC iPlayer in 2021/2022, up 8% Perhaps Right-wingers are the odd ones out. If it was a "Marxist parasitic propaganda" source, we would never see a Tory government.

Blimey, the BBC even have their stormtroopers on here desperately trying to convince people to pay for Gary Lineker.

The only argument that the stupid Right wing Populists can come up with is that the BBC is Left wing, Marxist, and that they employ Gary Linekar, how utterly ridiculous.
The BBC is infinitely far better value than BT, SKY, NETFLIX or any other subscription or pay as you view service.
For THREE QUID per week, less than the price of a pint of beer
BBC Radio 1; BBC Radio 2, BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio 4; BBC Radio 5; BBC Radio 1 Extra; BBC Radio 1 Dance; BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra; BBC World Service; CBeebies Radio; BBC Radio 1 Relax; BBC Radio 4 Extra; BBC Radio 6 Music.
Your local BBC Radio station, BBC Wales, BBC Scotland, BBC Ulster, BBC in Scotish Gaelic, BBC in Welsh.
BBC1, BBC2, BBC3, BBC4, BBC News, BBC Parliament, Childrens BBC, CBeebies.
The BBC Website including News, Weather, Childrens sections, Learning, History, Bite Size, Sport, IPlayer, The Arts, Food and Recipes, Information and Advice, Entertainment.
Theres just no argument, for what we all get for our THREE QUID a week, theres no competition, no one else gives us all this for anywhere comparible in price.
I wouldn't have SKY if it was free, but the CHEAPEST SKY SUBSCRIPTION IS MORE THAN DOUBLE THE TV LICENCE, and you get bombarded with adverts, they make virtually no programmes, and spew out hours and hours of cheap repeats or American garbbage.

It's only the Labour supporters who are insisting on extortion to pay for the endless propaganda. They do this whilst screaming about stupid right wingers. They even try and advertise for the BBC on here, which may well be in breach of the board's contract. It's the same repetition everytime this topic is brought up.
The idea that the people could break free from the shackles of the BBC terrifies them.
