To claim I said support for ceasefire equates to support for Hamas is more than disingenuous because I plainly did not . Read the post you replied to. A ceasefire allows Hamas to regroup and replan .A ceasefire suits Hamas but not Israel. If Israel is faced with an existential threat then world peace could in danger . You misunderstand me. I'm not referring to you but to Israeli Foreign Minister Eli Cohen having said that the UN secretary-general's tenure is “a danger to world peace” and that his call for a ceasefire in Gaza amounted to supporting Hamas and the October 7 attack. Unlike Mr. Cohen, I believe that the humanitarian crisis is what is prompting calls for a ceasefire, not support for Hamas. When is world peace not in danger? They are using it to stoke division around the world, while the media backs them, by constantly printing the same stories reworded in Favour of Israel and its current genocidal mission.

As I said he is correct . You cannot escape the fact that a ceasefire helps Hamas and hamstrings Israel. Whatever the reason to call for it. There are levels of danger for world peace . Back Israel against the wall and the level will steeply rise . Anyone calling for a ceasefire has to factor in reality when assessing its chances of happening and what the consequences would be . Ignoring the humanitarian crisis comes at a cost. It risks inflaming the whole situation and that endangers world peace, too, does it not? The end result is the same either way. It does and it’s a big problem .

It does and it’s a big problem . It certainly is. Other than with the US, Israel isn't in any international military alliances that I'm aware of. They don't participate in any NATO type of organisation, where members pay dues and mutually support one another. Any support they're given by other countries is given without obligation. At some point these friends are going to balk at the recurring costs of this never ending regional dispute. For the first time, American politicians are talking about taking a tough love stance and making aid to Israel conditional. foreignpolicy.com/2023/12/07/israel-united-states-military-aid-conditions-gaza-hamas-palestine/

It comes to something when Israels staunchest ally is showing signs of unease at how Israel is conducting this operation, and as far as I can recall, never has there been disquiet before in the US over Israels actions.
Its not simply that all this could spark into a bigger conflict, but it could also jeopardize Western interests in the Middle East, the U.S has bases in the UAE, Bahrain and Qatar, and the UK has facillities in Bahrain, Oman and Qatar.
It could sour relations between Middle Eastern nations and the US and UK, there have already been mass protests against the US in Jordan, and just today there have been more mass rallys in Istanbul, Rabat (Morocco) and in Lebanon.
public opposition to Israel and the US in Turkey ought to set alarm bells ringing, as Turkey is the kingpin to NATO presence in The Black Sea.

Few of these nations are themselves averse to some oppression , rape and killing so it’s unlikely that they are objecting because the Israelis are acting beyond beyond the pale . It’s not necessary driven by humanitarian reasons . IIRC some of these were dancing in the streets after the Hamas atrocity.
