It is a fact that pensioners are on average better off than the working age population. And often with far fewer outgoings. And any on only 200 a week which will be the poorer ones, also either have mortgages paid off or rent paid for them, free prescriptions, free bus travel, winter fuel payments, etc. I know my own mum struggled throughout her life and has never known it so good since she retired. And she herself is one of the poorer ones. And do you know that pensioners trouser as much from the state as all other welfare claimants put together? So it is a bit rich you being one of them and utterly contemptuous of anyone else getting state support at all including the working ones whose taxes are funding you, and who will be paid minimum wage to wipe your arses in your dotage. If you show your contempt for the working age population like me, then expect it back. I will be much more respectful of pensioners who dont think the rest of us owe them a living, are grateful for all they get and dont begrudge struggling workings the pickings of their arses. I think it hypocritical and selfish in the extreme for anyone to whinge about their supposedly pitiful taxpayer funded incomes whilst begrudging any help at all to those struggling on much less. If you showed any sympathy for those worse off than you instead of the usual contempt, you'd get a far fairer hearing from people like me Except that unlike your other benefit spongers, pensioners have often paid into the system for a whole working lifetime. And yet they get the lowest pension return of any comparable country. And still the left begrudge them that and consider people that have contributed nothing to be more worthy causes. It's clown world. yes, i bloody well have. To a degree that is well past twenty fold the amount i can reasonably expect to claw back from the scum who thieved it from me.

I don’t think many pensioners get free rent . All of them get free prescriptions, some get free bus travel , all get winter fuel payments afaik. The rest is means tested afaik. If you want to take back money from pensioners then just aiming at rich ones wont make much of an impact. So where exactly do the pension snatchers want the means testing to begin ? There aren’t any rich pensioners coining it from State pension benefits because they won’t qualify for it . The poorer ones who only get the state pension, pension credit, free bus travel and winter fuel payments, get both their rent and council tax paid. The ones who dont are the ones with much larger incomes than the £200 per week disingenuously cited as typical. I think everyone knows that the £200 is a basic state pension and the poorer pensioners have benefit top ups . Rich pensioners won’t use the bus pass ( which you gave to apply for) so it’s just the Basic pension and fuel allowance that the pension snatchers can get to. As I said targeting rich pensioners won’t make a dent in savings so it’s going to be ordinary people who have paid their taxes and saved well .

That is true to a certain extent, though free bus travel, free prescriptions, and winter fuel payments for pensioners are not means tested in the slightest. Whilst the minimum income guarantee is set at a more generous level with any rent allowance also set at a more generous level. All poorer pensioners will get much more than the basic state pension - free rent, no council tax and pensioner credits thrown in as well as the aforementioned bus travel, prescriptions and winter fuel payments. Those pensioners on good incomes already because of good quality private pensions - few of which in the private sector are available to current workers anymore - rightly get less from the taxpayer. But they still get the freebies I mentioned. No one is on the state pension alone anymore. Crowing about free bus travel is hilarious , they think everyone lives near a bus stop with a regular service to doctors/Sainsbury

Don't kids usually get free/discounted travel and there are always adverts for cheap family travel tickets ?

The service isn’t too good either . It follows the school times , in fact services are reduced on school holidays . There’s quite a few mums with kids . Iirc there is a maximum fare too for anyone . Frre bus travel isn’t worth much to anyone except the desperate here.
