Not sure if a thread already exists on this, but it seems a very newsworthy topic especially given today's article in the Guardian about black officers complaining about being 'pressurised' to contribute.
The story is of course about the two black athletes who were stopped and searched while driving a Mercedes. The officers concerned claimed they conducted the search after smelling cannabis in the car, a claim which was rejected by a disciplinary panel. The two officers were subsequently fired.
The crowdfund, which had an original target of £50K has now passed £140K:
The faux outrage on the part of the Black Police Officers Association is amplified by the Guardian here:

Obviously up to individuals what they do with their money. Would be interesting to know the motivations of the members of the public who chose to donate and how they were aware of the funds existence

As for the 'victims', Bianca Williams is quoted on the BBC News website as being "shocked with the amount of money that's been raised" while complaining about the amount of 'trolling' she is now receiving. www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-london-67261517

But is this something you believe the authorities should be putting a stop to, crowdfunding support for 'wrong-doers'?

I didnt suggest that at all Dan.
I'll take your word that this crowdfund was well known. As I say slightly intrigued as to the motivations of those who chose to fund it.

I suspect for many it would have been an act of covert resistance to an extremely corrupt and oppressive system.

I wouldn't have thought the public would have the knowledge to judge the police disciplinary process system to be honest Dan.

But they would recognise the actions of an overbearing and hostile regime when they see it. A regime that cares more about 'equality, diverisity and inclusivity' than dealing with actual crime and criminals.

Not sure what you are talking about Dan. Isn't this a case where two Policemen breached procedure, stopped a car containing two law abiding citizens without cause and then handcuffed them and then lied to their disciplinary hearing about what had happened. its an odd thing surely for the public to choose to give them money?

Not everyone lives in a multicultural utopia like you seem to inhabit dappy. Some people are able to appreciate the intolerable strains that are placed on people just trying to do their job in pestholes like London.

At times I imagine being a policeman in London or indeed anywhere else is a very challenging job.
Not sure that applies to the circumstances of this case however.
Hard not to conclude that those donating here are in fact supporting outright racism. Their choice, their money of course.

Nonsense. It's very difficult to see the decision to sack these officers as anything but a political decision.
Even the commissioner admits that he doesn't understand it, yet brands those contributing to the crowd funding as "Confused".
You couldn't make it up.

From how the story unfolded it gave the impression that the police officers were hard done by in being dismissed . Thats why the public have backed them in giving to the cause .
Regardless of the why they were stopped though people ,especially black people ,need to realise that the police force is there to do a job . Just co-operate and there is little grief ,don't co-operate and there is .
Making shit up though is a common compliant by people who are stopped . The police will say anything to pursue their enquiries .In this case the smell of drugs was used to search the vehicle .Are they really doing so much wrong to lose their jobs ?
The public obviously don't think so

Those donating to this fund represent a very small subsection of the total population.
I think we can guess at their motivation.

The public obviously don't think so Well indeed. We've all seen the videos – Williams & Dos Santos deliberately acted like utter dicks and then played the race card. And, in the 21st Century UK, when the race card is played heads must roll. And so they have. Unfortunately for Williams & Dos Santos, it appears that the public can see through their narrative and aren't buying the assumed victimhood. Well boo hoo. It would appear that the race-baiting shtick is wearing thin.
