Remember women were not aloud to vote once and there was uproar about that. Was it a very loud uproar? The voting age should be no lower than 18. There are already too many conflicts in permission ages. They have just taken away the right to marry at 16. Why should people of that age then be allowed to vote?

I was not allowed to vote until I reached the age of 21 years, I had taken very little interest in politics until then far too busy working and and chasing women, 16 years is far to young to know much about the world let alone Politics.

It will be a number of years before they accumulate enough life experience to realise that they have been sold a pup. Some of them, perhaps even a majority, may never reach such an understanding.

I saw my niece today she spoke about her politics teacher he likes Labour and is not shy about telling them about this, he says he is saving for a deposit for a house as they don't get paid enough. He then said he had no sympathy with people impacted by ULEZ saying they should just buy new car like he had.
She said he can buy a new car yet still insists he is not being paid enough, I don't get it.

Red Rackham In the not too distant past, definitely. These days, often with both parents working, by the time they come home from work the kids are secluded in their rooms engrossed in whatever's on their computer screens .... they might emerge for a meal but that's about it. 16 year olds will vote the way their Teachers vote (well the girls will ) ..... and is there more than a handful of Teachers throughout the UK who don't have a visceral hatred of the Tories ?

Probably one of these offers. £208/month offers.peugeot.co.uk/?_gl=1*1rseboz*_ga*OTA4MjE2MzEzLjE2OTQ5Nzg5Mzg.*_ga_337LK6DG1W*MTY5NDk3ODkzOC4xLjEuMTY5NDk3OTExNS4wLjAuMA.. Not sure exactly how it works, some sort of lease to buy scheme?

They need an appropriate adult present when interviewed by the police, so they obviously need support in important decisions.

I started my first paid work at the age of 13 years a paper round before school and another after school , should I have been given the right to vote back then? At the age of 15 years I worked a 40 hour week, should I have been right to vote back then ? I had no idea who ran the country back then or if they were were doing a good job or not, nor did I care all I was concerned about was how much was in my pay-packet on a Friday. At 16 I was old enough to work a shift pattern, same thing knew nothing about Politicians, I knew who the Shop Stewards supported Labour and who they hated and that was it. At the age of 18 years as I worked in a closed shop I was forced to join a Union pay subscriptions to the Union part of which went to fund the Labour Party, I had no choice either pay or leave and find other work elsewhere, that is when I took some interest in who ran the country. Then the Union made higher wages demands and strikes were organised when they could not be met, I had no choice but to strike or be black balled I left and found work elsewhere At the age of 21 that is when I was allowed to vote for the first time, I never have voted for Labour ever since and never will I have no desire to bring those bad old days back again

At 16 you can't drink or smoke legally, or drive a car, or buy porn dvds. Leave the voting age at 18 but hold a referendum on whether to change the system to PR.

I know a lot of 'children' who are perfectly capable of knowing when a government works for them. Giving children responsibilities is a good way of educating and setting them on the right path. If it 'favours' Labour, so be it but consider what the Conservatives have been doing over the years to 'stop' poorer people from voting. Allowing children to vote is not giving them responsibilities. Children are easilly influenced especially about things they know nothing about, like life and politcs. If a child has any interest interest in politics it's usually due to peer pressure rather than any genuine interest. Children will vote the way their parents vote, in some communities this will be expected. What have the conservatives been doing to stop poorer people voting? We are all influenced by something or someone. Should everyone who has been 'influenced' not get a vote? Sixteen year olds are not the same as they were before the intenet and social media.

The internet and social media has made 16 year olds mature , has it? FFS😆
