Yesterday a police spokesperson was trying to give the impression that the 16 year old traumatised autistic girl arrested by no fewar than 'seven' police officers and was dragged kicking and screaming from her home, was not in fact arrested for calling a female copper a lesbian and that footage on social media only provided a limited snapshot of the circumstances of the incident. However, the police later confirmed the girl was arrested for making a homophobic comment, she called very thin skinned female copper a lesbian which is of course crime of the century. My god, if that copper cant hack being called a bloody lesbian then she's in the wrong job. She should be in a cotton wool lined box in a soundproof room well away from the nasty world. Police officers drag autistic girl from home for saying cop 'looked like her lesbian nana'. metro.co.uk/2023/08/11/leeds-police-officers-drag-screaming-autistic-girl-from-her-home-19318112/?ico=just-in_article_must-readWell Red so she was ratted got arrested then released and as I said previously six of one half a dozen of the other get outraged all you like but people more severely affected by autism than her are at this time held in private mental facilities in this country hostages to being nothing more than an income stream for private enterprise. They unlike the criminals who have committed the worst of crimes even murder are being held indefinitely with no right of appeal and having committed no crime but are afflicted by a condition being abused in a way that would have a convicted crims lawyer claiming massive compo and who gives a rats arse? not you anyone else on here or in the wider world few. Its an absolute disgrace but no one gives a toss even about the young man ignored and killed by the nhs, makes my blood boil but who else cares?

I think the girl's autism is a total side issue.
Perhaps the government should release some advice to public servants - your job isn't to enforce deference and respect on the populations forced to pay your wages.

The police ignoring burglaries, car crime, theft etc, while going in mob handed on very soft targets seems par for the course these days. I'm reminded of army veteran Darren Brady who was arrested by a gang of police who invaded his home put him in handcuffs and dragged him off to the police station, his crime? He allegedly caused someone 'anxiety' for retweeting someone else's message on Twitter! You see? Burglaries etc forget it it's too much like hard work, but causing alleged offence or thought crime, oh yes the woke police are on it like a flash.

These sort of police actions are human rights abuses. Additionally. The withdrawing of security / order by refusing to deal with real crime is another human rights abuse - it is theft / fraud

Yeah and I’m reminded of this lad His dad was in the military RAF sqdn leader as it happens, and his kid wasn’t ratted and returned to the safety of their home where the parent got their phone out to film and send to a newspaper when they’d picked her up at the families request because she was drunk and at risk, still they’re suing for compo. This kid lost his life because he and his parents and incidentally case notes from another senior doctor clearly stating this drug was dangerous to him and in any event he wasn’t suffering a psychosis were administered anyway,I doubt but for their ability to communicate what went wrong anything would’ve been done, they didn’t seek compo for themselves but education so no other (hopefully) suffered the same. www.hee.nhs.uk/our-work/learning-disability/current-projects/oliver-mcgowan-mandatory-training-learning-disability-autism

How is the police arresting someone for making someone on the internet anxious comparable to a medical mixup in which the wrong medicine is administered? Those seem to me to be two completely different kinds of things

Those seem to me to be two completely different kinds of things Course you might think that but as you mentioned human rights abuse whose was massively abused here and resulting in a life lost. Why are they two different things? the parent made the most of the child’s autism to get newspaper headlines and claim compo. Why is comparing someone else with autism whose rights were abused in the most catastrophic way you think out of bounds. Isn't illustrating how people with such disabilities are often routinely denied their rights pertinent and pointing out the difference when imo a mountain has been made out of a molehill in this case for perhaps financial gain and the real problems suffered on a day to day basis ignored.

When I was about 14 I got punched in the stomach by a Southend copper for smiling when I shouldn’t have . Had I continued smiling I would have got beaten up and arrested . Now we seem to want coppers to accept being mocked. Maybe we do have the police that we deserve .

Those seem to me to be two completely different kinds of thing Why are they two different things? Because a medical mix up is a completely different quality of policy problem to arresting someone for a non-crime. For instance, one is a mistake and another is a determined effort to do something wrong

If you were arrested for cheek (doubtful), I doubt the policemen would have written 'he smiled at me' in the paperwork. You would have got a clip around the ear, not a criminal record

Would you say a 16 year old kid with autism who tells a female copper she looks like her lesbian nana, is mocking the police? And for this heinous crime she is arrested by no fewar that seven police who invade her home, she is dragged out screaming clearly very traumatised, as was her mother, and taken to a police station. This is insanity, the officers involved should at the very least be disciplined for abject stupidity, and in the cold light of day I suspect they will feel suitably ashamed of their ridiculous actions. We most certainly do not have the police we deserve. It seems to me that the police these days are totally incapable of applying any measure of common sense.

For instance, one is a mistake and another is a determined effort to do something wrongWell Orac if you read the history of this might make you think differently,a medical mix up? a time line will show that this medication was administered on more than one occasion and despite written instructions from the lad himself both his parents and a senior consultant that under no circumstances should this be administered because it was a threat to his life and he suffered no condition that the medication was designed to treat. He was at one point treated as though he was a dangerous individual transferred to a unit where said consultant realised it was the medication at fault and stopped it and informed all concerned and ensured it was highlighted in his medical records. Despite that some thought they knew better and administered it again despite all the warnings and told his parents when they expressed their concerns they shouldn’t worry as they (the medical people) weren’t,a couple of days later so damaged by the medication advised life support turned off. Given all the warnings written and verbal more than a medical mix up wouldn’t you say? And in both events all happened at the behest of officials and figures of authority,I would maintain that surrounding the girls was a one off and little consequence compared to the latter which had tragic consequences.

Would you prefer a taser? Are you saying that if you resist arrest enough then you should be let go as a prize? Quote from your link” The force said the teenager was taken back to her house after a family member said she was intoxicated and ‘putting herself at risk in Leeds city centre’.“ Are people with Autism allowed to get pissed and insult the police without penalty? Sounds a bit lefty to me .

This was a trivial non incident that has now, thanks to the police, gone global and made the police look bloody stupid. Like I said, these days the police seem incapable of applying any measure of common sense.

You think the police should have walked away when a family member claimed that she was intoxicated and ‘ putting herself at risk’ ..and the girl herself confirmed this by insulting a police woman? That alone should be enough . That lesbian who looks like a ‘ grandmother’ would be expected to put herself in harms way to protect her . She should be respected . The police look stupid in the eyes of people who think that the police should tolerate being insulted.
