There is a petition about the 20mph limits from Wales and has quickly reached 230,000 which means it will need to be discussed in parliament. Another likely vote winner for Sunak as he gets to go up against the Welsh separatists / socialists. By arguing against a Tory policy, people can see through the Tories like glass.

That's a quarter of a third of the population of Wales.

Why are people so against a policy to save lives?

Why are people so against a policy to save lives? For the same reason that people are against taking all vehicles off the roads to save lives.

It is about standard of living for most and expecting to get to A and B in a reasonable time, no-one is against 20mph near schools or in high streets yet every other street is way OTT.
Painkillers kill more than road deaths and yet..........

Painkillers kill more than road deaths and yet.......... Getting from A to B should not come with the chance of killing someone. Painkillers are a personal choice getting run over is not, another daft comparison.

At the end of the day people will see the sense in 20mph and things will settle down again.

At the end of the day people will see the sense in 20mph and things will settle down again. A 9 year old girl was killed by a tractor in Scotland yesterday it was doing far less than 20 MPH rr.

Who said nobody would be killed if the speed limit changes to 20mph? Again a floundering statement.

Why would anyone argue that bicycles and electric scooters should be able to faster than cars? Nobody does, they should be subject to the same rules as anyone else but policing it is another matter. I would, mind, rather get hit by a bike going at 30mph than a car or van. Well, you shouldn't be walking on the road if you don't want to get hit by car.

At the end of the day people will see the sense in 20mph and things will settle down again. Why not 10 mph? If that just saves one more life it’s worth it right ?

Not really. The arrogant islamic twat who strode out into the road while i was test driving the electric van with the sidium sulphur battery back in 2004 bounced off the side wing, the cyclist who hit my car while pedalling like hell through the shopping centre pedestrian area before slamming into my car bounced iff got up and ran off. In contrast one of the county lines off road wheelie merchants who screwed up went right under Andy’s Range Rover and inspected the sump for him …. None of that has to do with 20mph speed limits. Are you happy with using extreme cases to support your view on generality? In general 20mph is safer that 30mph, simple really. Not true. The new highway code has created a culture where pedestrians think they have a right of way over vehicles that does not exist in law or reality, and this twenty bollox has created a culture of recklessness in the pedestrian population. The number of accidents in Bath has significantly increased, they published the figures, being one of a few places brave enough to do so. Monmouth reports the same. And as i said, at lower speeds you don't bounce off you go under The other problem is driver distraction. Six lollipop ladies have been struck by vehicles in Newport this week as motorists spend precioys time looking at speedometers instead of the road. One of those has a fractured hip. The supervisor of Newport's crossing patrols is making a formal complaint that Drakefords antics have clearly endangered her employees lives…..
