Crowds gather to protest against Wales' 20mph law as petition opposing the new limit tops 400,000 signatures Very unpopular new speed limit has driven motorists out to march the streets Mark Drakeford's hugely unpopular Wales-wide 20mph speed limit was protested today by livid motorists. Hundreds of drivers took to the streets of Cardiff by foot to match through the city centre registering their fury. Enormous banners were held emblazoned with messages opposing the slow-motoring push. One declared 'Defy the travel lockdown' while another suggested 'Don''t comply'. An online petition called 'We want the Welsh Government to rescind and remove the disastrous 20mph law' has now reached over 416,000 signatories. The clampdown has seen Wales become the first country in the UK to reduce speed limits down from 30mph in built-up residential areas with a view to saving lives and cutting costs for the NHS.

What evidence do you need? If I open a door with a slight push it opens slowly, if I open a door with a hard push it open quickly, God this is basic KS2 stuff. The higher the speed a vehicle travels, the greater the likelihood of serious injury or death if there is a crash. The risk of injury increases exponentially with impact speed. A crash at 30mph involves a lot more energy and destructive potential than a crash at 20mph. The greater the force an object is hit by the more damage it receives. Read up on Newton's laws, he agrees with me. You have been asked by another poster to furnish proof that this 20 MPH limit has saved ANY lives. So far all we have received is your usual bluster and strawmen. And don't preach to me about newtons law I fully understand it. And even Newton made mistakes.
EDIT......When Did Isaac Newton Finally Fail?
The worrying thing is you seem to believe that being hit by a car at 30mph has the same chance of killing someone as someone going at 20mph. "The evidence from around the world is very clear – reducing speed reduces collisions and saves lives. In the distance you can stop a car travelling at 20mph, a 30mph car would still be doing 24mph. And when someone is hit at 30mph, they are around 5 times more likely to be killed than when hit at 20mph".

Twatfofrd is up to his usual tricks. The Twat now is thinking of putting ULEZ schemes on Welsh roads. The ring piece is a toatl embaraasment like all the labouir bell ends. Mark Drakeford fails to rule out ULEZ-style charging schemes on Wales' busiest roads as First Minister is quizzed over further 'anti-car' plans in wake of backlash Mark twatford today failed to rule out the introduction of charging schemes on Wales' busiest roads as the First Minister was quizzed over his future plans. Speaking in the Senedd, the Labour politician did not deny the Welsh Government could pursue schemes similar to the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) across London. But the First Minister stressed these would only be implemented as a 'fall-back' option if other measures failed to tackle air pollution. Mr Drakeford is currently facing a backlash after Wales recently became the first country in the UK to drop the default speed limit from 30mph to 20mph for restricted roads. The Welsh Conservatives have accused the Labour-led Welsh Government of pursuing an 'anti-car' agenda.

Careful, your racism is showing. An odd statement from somebody who supported the anti-semites in Labour. When did I do that? There were and still are anti-Semites in the Labour party just as there are in the Tory party and across the nation but I have never supported anti-Semitism and you have no proof that I have. You have made a statement and now you need to show evidence of it.
