If people climbed onto my house without permission I would treat it as a criminal offence. It's a shame that Greenpeace have stooped to such levels.

This is about advisory positions in government. Greenpeace has spent MANY YEARS researching environmental issues and have often been consulted by all governments. Greenpeace members vote every five years, just like everyone else. They dont have a single unified vote. They dont stop traffic, climb bridges, prevent access or glue themselves to objects. They are mature specialists. Instead of fits of piquz anss zmbarrassment, the government should listen to them as helpful advisors. Rhey can ignore the advice but disallowing them from meetings is not only childish but contrary to fundamental rights. More peer reviewed science on them than from them, I think. Check this search.

Repeating ypurself in different words is not a discussion. It is, however, rinse and repeat. You need to sharpen your communication skills. Or stand back, close your mouth and watch how other people do it. I have repeated myself because your argument has failed, so therefore there is nothing for me to add because you cannot rebut my point coherently. - You believe it is okay to break the law. - You believe said law breakers have an automatic right to sit in on government meetings after trespassing on the private property of a government representative. - By your irrational logic you believe the Tories are therefore killing free speech. You arguments are flawed. Your attitude is petty and juvenile. And your communication skills are that of a native French speaker trying to communicate in the second language of English. In fact, I suspect many French speakers communicate far more effectively in English than you do.

In fact, I suspect many French speakers communicate far more effectively in English than you do. You have reduced my argument ad absurdum and completely misunderstood it. I never said it was OK to go on the roof of someone's house. I said the government's consequences of doing so interfere with fundamental rights of democracy and free speech. However they do conveniently prevent a respected body from countering government opinion. I never said Greenpeace had any automatic rights to sit as advisors. They are habitually invited. As i said, I have given my opinion and explained it. I have listened to your opinion and remained unconvinced. AFAIAC that is the end of the conversation.

Please stop putting words in my mouth. I never said "special relationship" It now has NO relationship. If there is nothing special about the status, then nothing has been removed by treating their opinions like that of all other voters

So you are sympathetic to individual action including passionate envoronmentalists who are free to register their opinion in any way they choose. They will not have the environmental research necessary to sift fact from conspiracy theory and will be ok to take action far more impressive than climbing onto the roof of an empty house and doing no damage. I am sure the hard pressed police will applaud your suggestion,

Nobody should feel obligated to invite such halfwits to meetings

No one is obligated, nor did i say so. Please stop changing my posts.
And it would be refreshing if you would stop ignoring the ppints made in my posts and then repeating what you have already said and which i have refuted. I said the closing of the advisory door was a pathetic fit of pique...a temper tantrum to impress climate change doubters and Tory supporters, but in reality was a barring of free speech. Keep doing it and you live in an echo chamber.
In fact it has backfired and under the shallow sea level of public knowledge, the governnment will continue to meet or communicate with Greenpeace. After all the Tories have had years to hone their skills of misleading and relying on the lack of knowledge found in the average voter.

Frankly it lifts no boats and i really dont care about your opinion. Which is not fact. Thank you for your input even if it became frayed and unsubstantial at the end. YOu even stopped addressing my debating points and repeating things i have already refuted. Now you have started to insult me. Have a better day.

If a bunch of loonies staged a protest on your roof, and draped your house in black cloth so you couldn't see out of the windows, how would you feel?
They weren't arrested for speaking they were arrested for trespassing.
If they'd protested on public land like normal people, nothing would have happened to them.

Now try to add something that hasnt already been said, there's a good boy. And FYI the subject is not what they did. It is what the government did in reply. Gordon Bennet. LOOK AT THE THREAD TITLE.

Good - their idiotic actions have shown them to be unworthy of being listened to.
