Sunak’s policies to attract the ‘motorist vote’: - get rid of 20mph zones (speed with impunity) - get rid of ULEZ (pollute as much as you like) - max out North Sea oil and gas (boil the planet) Vote Tory: Live fast, die young and take the rest of the world with you! Unlike Labour who want to chop down every tree in sight, so their building buddies can turn the UK into a concrete jungle, with no green spaces left for our future generations, fuck the planet who needs trees, grass woodland, nature reserves, fuck the wildlife, the animals the bees the birds.... build build build. |

Far from being a digression, remember, about 640 watts per square metre at noon on a GOOD day with no cloud and no pollution, 250 at best with cloud cover and half that when the sun is less than 60 degress in the sky, and those panels are at best 30%-50% efficient at capturing that. They were 15% efficient when i wrote the research up for the institute of mechanical engineers as a callow youth with the letters B, S and C just added to my name and in search of something to use them for that put food on the table Yes indeed. I mentioned elswhere that a 1mw coal power station used to provide reliable electricity to c500,000 homes. A wind farm with a footprint four times larger than a 1mw coal power station provides electricity to c50,000 homes, when it's windy. Let's try again. When you said 1mw coal power station above, did you mean to type that? Does 1megawatt or 1000 kW power 500,000 homes? What did you do at Rugeley? Clean the toilets? |

Two competing stories in todays papers. First Labour declaring that UK businesses are paying an extra £3.5 Billion for energy and are pledging to ban oil and gas extraction in the UK in favour of 'cheap' renewables. Next story is offshore wind power is uneconomic if they don't get more taxpayer subsidy........  |
