So our great soon to be opposition leader Rishi Sunak FLIES up to Scotland in a private hired jet, because he cannot mix with the great unwashed on a commercial, scheduled flight, then announces that 12 years or so AFTER petrol and deisel cars have ceased to be sold, oil from these proposed new fields will come on stream.
And what exactly does "Energy Security" actually mean ?, because ALL British oil and gas is sold on the international markets at the market price, for anyone to buy, and there are no discounts for British energy or fuel companies.
As the Southern Mediterranian burns, as North Africa burns, as ice caps melt faster and faster, and as the UN Secretary General warns the world that its almost too late, our thicko PM decides to ignore the the warnings of 98% of the worlds scientists, and issue licenses that are not needed, not required, that will not make us more secure.
But of course he's got his eye on 2024, and how to save himself and the Tory Party, maybe by re-announcing this again, it might help.
We desperately need a rest from this idiot and the Tories, and by God our plannet needs a rest from the bunch of selfish, self serving self preservation society members.

LOL, oh man spot the outraged lefty. Hey sid, the UK produces 1% of global emissions. The government could switch off UK Plc tomorrow and it would have absolutely no effect on a global level. Why on earth do you people think the UK can save the planet? Please, I implore you, try to understand that the UK is too small to make a difference. All net zero will achieve is to make the UK, you and me, poorer. If you want to be seen to be virtuous I suggest you demonstrate outside the Chinese embassy.

Imagine if five nations who each contributed to emissions the same as the UK ( 1% ), that would be 5%
Imagine if France, Germany, Italy, Japan and Canada all thought the same "we do not contribute that much to make a difference" thats 8% of the total.
Imagine if every country which produced 1% or less thought the same, that would add up to 22%
Its time to stop making excuses, we need to set examples, not make things worse, and as for China, allthough I do agree they need to do more, it has to remembered that their population is 22 times the population of the UK.

Oh ffs behave yourself. Imagine? Stop imagining and get with reality. China produces nearly 30% of global emissions and has 1,200 coal fired power stations, and they're not little 1MW stations like we had, they have big fuckers, 5 & 6 MW stations and they have promised (lol) they will build no more than two new coal power stations 'a month' until 2030. They are also building coal power stations in several other countries, and last year global coal consumption passed 8 billion tonnes for the first time since 2013. Try to understand, on a global level it doesn't matter what the UK does it litterally doesn't matter. We are too small to make a difference. PS. A bit of info I just listened to: China has produced more emissions over the past 8 years than the UK has over the past 220 years. Do you understand the imbalance?

You know what you should imagine Sid,being bloody cold and unable to afford or get sufficient energy to keep us warm. You should imagine the Chinese ,Indians and others laughing whilst carrying on regardless.

Yes Sid - I dont understand that either. Every country that is a net exporter of oil or gas has cheaper energy for their domestic customers, yet somehow the UK would be the exception. I'd love someone to explain why - unless it's just normal British exceptionalism.

Shapps always has been a clown - if the orders had been placed at the start of the energy crisis the damn things would be half built by now. Well not such a clown as he is removing the alternatives as Rishi makes for more oil and gas drilling. Or in other words stick our offer where the sun don't shine.

Having hissy fit on itv news, managed to mention climate crisis, global warming as many times as they could but haven’t yet made it to global boiling,I wish jso go boil their heads. Much wittering about how we all support net zero,do we? Ah. Global Boiling made it to Dewbs & Co's "guest" last night who was rightly mocked after days of summer brollyday drizzle

And something I noticed when reading your link is the size of solar farms. Some people say we should go meat free because food could be grown in fields used to graze cattle. Apologies if this is something of a digression but solar farms take up huge areas of arable/grazing land, far more than coal power stations used to, yet they're not nearly as efficient. I really don't think this has been thought through. It's a knee jerk reaction that we will come to regret. Far from being a digression, remember, about 640 watts per square metre at noon on a GOOD day with no cloud and no pollution, 250 at best with cloud cover and half that when the sun is less than 60 degress in the sky, and those panels are at best 30%-50% efficient at capturing that. They were 15% efficient when i wrote the research up for the institute of mechanical engineers as a callow youth with the letters B, S and C just added to my name and in search of something to use them for that put food on the table

It was clear the council leader was in on the scam, he was the only one who knew 'ALL' the dealings, but he's gone into hiding, had to laugh the Panorama investigator tracked him down walking his dog.... she chased him for a interview and he was all over the place trying to get away... she said ...'How do you feel about bankrupting the Council, and making the people pay' ... Why he isn't arrested I'll never know, having secret meetings in top swanky hotels with this Kavanagh fraudster, they both in on the con.

Hey guys, I've got a get rich quick scam.. Let's buy a cheap worthless plot of land for buttons, plant a load of solar panels on them and dupe some council out of millions pretending it was a sound investment. Let's call ourselves the www.letsscamthecouncils.co.uk. I bet they wont even notice our website domain name.
