Blair home number nine: £1m house for student daughterIt is every parent’s desire to give their children the best start in life, but few would ever aspire to buying them a £1million house as a leaving home present. Unless, that is, you happen to be as wealthy as Tony and Cherie Blair. By Gordon Rayner 28 August 2010 • 8:00amLook at the date the article was written 2010, 13 years ago. You have to ask serious questions why Tony Blair was elected in 1997 basically on the bones of his arse, then can afford to buy his daughter a £1million house as a 'leaving present' ... FFS if this was a ex-Tory Prime Minister, Labour would be having a melt down asking where they got that sort of money from, at the time he earned as being Prime Minister about £100,000 a year X 10 = £1 million, he would have had to give her every penny he made in the 10 years of being Prime Minister.
Not to mention her property was number 9 back in 2010
Where's inquiry's when you need them?

the fastest rise in prices was under the Blair/Brown regime - a far cry from the glory days of the Labour Party. And the Tories continued the policy? Why wasn't housing a major problem under new labour? Throwing open the doors to mass migration and then not building enough is what caused the present shortage - New Labour inherited high levels of building and low levels of immigration and then did a 180. What did you think was going to happen?

One more time. I am not talking about future immigration. I am talking about the current shortage of 4 million homes and the fact that most young people cannot afford them because of that shortage. If you are not interested in solving this issue and just want to moan about immigration please feel free to do so, but please don't misrepresent my position in order to somehow make it my fault. As I point out in my message, it's insoluble if tackled in isolation to immigration. The only effects of such an approach would be to increase immigration and make the UK population even less able to look after themselves.No. You could stop immigration dead today and you would still be 4 million homes short tomorrow. Though I agree continued immigration makes it worse each year.

Blairopoly: What’s Tony doing when he’s not trying to wreck Brexit? Building a £35m property empire where his children alone have homes worth £12m - thanks to some VERY unsocialist wheeler-dealing... Former Prime Minister Tony Blair's property portfolio consists of 39 homes and flats worth up to £35 million The investments span from student digs in Manchester to principal homes in London and Buckinghamshire The Daily Mail can today reveal the owners of the controversial shed are none other than Blair and his family
Quite right, he built up an enormous property portfolio (using taxpayers money to buy what was once cheap), then caused the market value to boom. Greedy bastard he is.
What's needed, is to reverse all this, and make housing affordable again.
We have to build adequate numbers of houses, we cannot do that, unless we know how many people we need to build for.
Immigration is a factor in this. It needs taking into account, and hasn't been since the days of 'New Labour'.
Gosh a social minded soul has done well. How very dare he. Not sure how you figure he used tax payers money. As for working out how many houses we need. Let's start with 2 million and when we get to that we can have another look.
