No one is suggesting rejoining the EU, Thomas, if only because the EU would not have us. If Labour win they will rejoin the EU. Anyone who doesn't understand that is either naive or stupid. And the EU would love to have us back. Of course the terms would be even worse than the ones we had before. They would demand that we join the Euro which would be like another ERM. Wouldn't it be ironic. We fought a war to avoid German domination - only to be taken over by Germany and the ECB because of British politicians who hate this country.

The uk will be the laughing stock of the world. You may get the calm that has been lacking under the tories , but the price you will pay for economic stability will be the laughter of every nation on this earth at the humiliation of the uk , and everyone wil know the real governance of the uk and its power is based in brussells not london.
The idea the EU wouldnt take back one of its main financial backers is laughable. Not to mention i wouldnt be surprised if after the humiliation of keir starmer and labours rejoin , both the UK and France lost their seats on the UN security council and were replaced by the EU.
The idea the UK can slot back into where it was pre 2016 is laughable in terms of eu membership. The negotiating position would be that of a sycophant begging for the crumbs from europes top table.
I will be voting against new labour as normal.

Starmer's flapping because he can see the markets are happy with Sunak and his new cabinet, he fears the turbulence of the past few months will calm which will be reflected in the polls and the Tories will be on course for another election win in 2024. I'm not saying that will happen, but you can bet Starmer's worried about it. Unfortunately (because I was hoping Sunak would be cut a little slack to get government back on track) you’re wrong. The new PM is being attacked for his cabinet choices from all sides. It will be good if he can ride this out and get an effective administration working… From all sides Pat? Are you referring to Lab, the LibDems and SNP lol.

From all sides including from his own party’s supporters.
There are still a number of party members who believe Boris Johnson should be Tory Leader and could be PM again and lead the party to victory in two years time…

The real Sunak is emerging rapidly.
He tolerates his Home Secretary stirring up hatred and division, grubbing for votes from the ignorant, with talk of "invasion" just hours after a potentially serious attack on a building in Dover
He decides not to attend an important international summit humiliating the country and bans our head of state from attending.
All sops to the far right of his party.
Does he believe in this shit or is he so fecking weak that he has to pander to the worst instincts of his party's loony fringe.
Either way his true colours are becoming clear and it's not a pretty sight. Another dire PM from a failing party. Time for a change.

What else would you call the arrival of hundreds if not thousands of economic immigrants, every day if not an invasion?

Lots of things Morgan. There aren't thousands arriving every day by the way and of course when their cases are examined the majority are found to be genuinely in need of sanctuary and not economic migrants. Still never let the facts get in the way of panic.

40,000 Alleged Asylum Seekers have arrived on our beaches this year so far, 1,000 of them in just one day if that is not an invasion I don't know what is, and that is only the ones we know about, how many others arrived in the boots of cars, backs of lorries or forged documents.
In one year 40,000 where are we going to house them all? accommodation is already very difficult to find

In one year 40,000 where are we going to house them all? accommodation is already very difficult to find Most of them will go off radar and end up in the criminal world, once they find out they aren't getting this dream of thousands of pounds in benefits, a new house and a car, and reality sets in they are stuck in a hotel or low demand accommodation and the big dream is turning in to a nightmare, they will turn to crime, the only time they will be detected is when they are in custody and we find out they are illegals, and that is the stark reality

No Handyman. The 40,000 people who claimed asylum are by definition all asylum seekers -no alleged about it. Whether they will subsequently be found to be entitled to that asylum remains to be seen.
By definition we know exactly how many people have arrived here by other means to claim asylum.
There will be a more people who arrived here with the intention of being illegal immigrants - a small number of which (I believe 7% or so of total arrivals) will have travelled by boat. Others will have travelled in back of lorries or containers but by all accounts majority are visa overstayers. They are a sperate issue which for some reason (largely photo opportunity for tabloid front pages) receives little attention.

Then why do they have to go through the Immigration Process which takes many months or in some cases a year or more? if as you claim they are genuine Asylum Seekers, what war are the Albanian fleeing from? Over stayers do not need to arrive by unlawful means they have travel documents some of them just don't leave when they should, and when they are found many are told to leave of their own accord within a set period of time, if not they can be deported and may not be allowed back in for a set period of time

No Handyman, this is not difficult. People who have claimed asylum are all asylum seekers - 100% of them.
Whether they are found to be entitled to asylum remains to be seen.
Your second paragraph just repeats back what I have just explained to you. Very odd.

Still never let the facts get in the way of panic. If they were in genuine need of sanctuary they would have applied for asylum in one of the safe countries they came through to get here. Hence they are economic migrants. In fact, to solve the problem, we should refuse to accept them unless they had applied for sanctuary at a British embassy before their arrival on our shores. Generally, asylum seekers are just as safe in most European countries as they are here. They choose to come here for a variety of reasons. One being because we are an easy touch. We should only be accepting a reasonable number of genuine refugees from countries adjacent to war zones as should every other country.

I don't see why the UK should have to accept any refugees or asylum seekers. If you want to do something to help you feel good about yourself go for it, but don't drag everyone else into it.
