The reason why Wales is so poor is because it hasnt recoverd from the closing of its many coal mines especially in south west wales.
Dose wales even have a industry now

Magrath, can you explain your earlier post.? If what you mean by your comment is that pandering to the British public has got us where we are, spot on. Every politician has to decide whats best for the country, compared to whats right for the party. Enter party whips. Labour has no such qualm, party comes first. I do mean this - i was echoing your point and adding to it A potential collapse from corrupt demands of the electorate is baked into what democracy is. For democracy to work, you need to start with a reasonably honest electorate who doesn't see the government as their meal ticket. We are now so far from this, it's hard to see how it can last much longer

of course you have no interest in facts that show labour for the mess that they are.
Why is the tory run english nhs performing better than wales then?
You clearly have difficulty in reading and understanding replies to your posts. You do not appear to be able to debate replies, you just try to bully your way through pushing your own opinions. There are a few Debating Boards that reserve themselves for young people I think one might be more suitable to your style of posts. Same old C2 who resorts to the auld insults when things don't go his way eh? Same with others with the auld snide insults too that say more about them than others of course.

Far from it, the poster you are refering too has put up numerous links unlike those who oppose his views. Are they even capable of reading or do they think invisible ink was used? The debate is between him and me. He has to have some evidence of his claims. True. Claims are worthless without evidence.
But he gave you evidence didn't he? LOL.

Since the turn of the century ( 2000 ) there have been two largely unforseen disasters which have struck this country, and the world.
The Financial Crisis and recession of 2008 - 2010, and the Pandemic of 2019 - 2021
Both of these massive hits to our economy have cost a lot of money, and in reality there is no one to blame for either disaster, neither were the fault of any British Prime Minister or British government.
But its how we pay back the extra borrowing caused by these storms that is the question that divides politics
If you believe that essential public services and the least well off should bare the brunt of paying off the deficit, then vote Conservative, because that is precisely what the Conservatives have done. Instead of hitting the over-inflated profits of mega corporations and companies, they have instead introduced such things as The Bedroom Tax.
The Conservatives COULD HAVE done what Tony Blair did in the late 1990s, and imposed Windfall Taxes, which did our economy absolutely no harm what so ever. But instead, the Conservatives are hell bent on cutting taxes, even borrowing to do so, when Social Care and the NHS is falling apart.
We must accept that we are in a difficult situation, but its whether the remedy is fair, and whether the remedy hurts the least well off, rather than taking from the wealthiest, and those who can aford it.

Unfortunately, social care is our area of biggest expenditure. It therefore makes sense that it should be the area to bear the largest cuts.
It's no good bleating about it: One way or another the dependency culture will have to end.

Harsh though that sounds, I tend to agree with you — to the extent that I believe health and welfare and family support need to be better allocated and managed.
It will take time, because the whole system needs to be reorganised a in a more professional way by competent trained people, not agency staff brought in ad hoc to cut according to the instructions of the day.
Feeding, educating and training children and adults, should be an investment in the future, not a band-aid for the present until the next government edict arrives.
Until that happens, state provided elderly care and welfare will have to be at the bare minimum, with charities filling in where needed. Maybe waste will be reduced once donors see their generosity being abused...

We currently have the highest tax burden since WW2 so I would really love to see a list of all these taxes the Tories have supposedly cut.

Unfortunately, social care is our area of biggest expenditure. It therefore makes sense that it should be the area to bear the largest cuts. It's no good bleating about it: One way or another the dependency culture will have to end. At this present moment in time, 40% of all patients ready for discharge from hospitals are unable to leave because there is no available social care ( not enough beds, not enough staff ). If you add together the number of NHS vaccancies with the number of Social Care vaccancies, you arrive at a figure equivelant to the population of Newcastle upon Tyne. ALL measures of NHS efficiency are going the wrong way, ambulance 999 response times are rising, waiting lists are rising, waiting times are rising. The British public who contribute towards health care, expect and demand that basic, safe levels are provided, and if the Conservative government fail to provide, or cannot provide the resources for an NHS and Social Care service fit for purpose, then they will be swept out of power.

The British public who contribute towards health care, expect and demand that basic, safe levels are provided... And they are, and then some. Sadly, as I stated elsewhere, there is massive over-demand which we can never raise enough tax to satisfy. We need to wean the population off of this dependency.
