It doesn't bode well for the future when the only ground Labour can make is when they start a witch-hunt on a Tory, they never let up on Johnson, to the point of obsession, they've tried to destroy Sunak with their disgusting poster about how soft he is on sentencing paedophiles, now they've moved on to Raab, he's done now, so who is their next 'victim'?
They have no polices, nothing to offer the electorate, and to think they could win the next General Election purely on character assassinations of the Tories, is quite frankly dumbfounding and disturbing, and gutter politics, we don't want to go down that route, but that's were Labour are heading us, because they have a lame duck leader, and are useless opposition.
Precisely. You are spot on , it doesnt bode well for the future when the uk state has such a dysfunctional out of date political system it could potentially let a party like labour into power for sayng doing and offereing nothing.
Im surprised many others also dont see it , and that even more arent out campaigning to sort the disasterous fptp two party stitch up out.
Labour have relied for so long now on the fptp two party stitch up that they have nothing to offer except demanding you vote labour cause your father did , while they scream tory bad (or in scotland snp bad).
Even if you took away all the constitutional issues of the uk state , i still couldnt consider giving labour a vote till i found out more of what starmer actually stands for and what his policies actually are , thats before you even begin to grapple with the trust issues of a man who broke every one of his leadership election pledges.
There is someone far more influential who is working behind the scenes in Labour, because Starmer and Rayner are too thick to put a plan together.
The word on the street that it's 'Mandy' Mandelson, which wouldn't surprise me, old school Labour are instrumental in the workings of today's Labour. They know Starmer is not going to win them the next GE, so they are frantically working on bringing the Tories down by foul means. I think it will backfire, the Tories will up their game soon, I think they are going to have to fight fire with fire or they will lose the next GE, I think losing Raab is a great wake up call for them, and could prove to be the downfall of Labour.

Possibly Tommy, but as far as I can see you have a socialist in charge of both the SNP and the Labour party, so there is not a lot of difference between the two. Plus Humza Yousaf seems more interested in raising the red flag over Bute House than Scottish independence. Meanwhile, instead of trying to scoop up the SNP votes, Sammy the Seal appears more interested in playing the elder statesman than advancing Alba's cause.
Overall, I reckon that Scottish independence is currently a bit fucked.

aye ive read that a number of times mandelson is "advising" starmer , along to a lesser degree Blair and Brown.
We are where we are in both uk and scottish politics at the minute , but i do think as you say a number of things are working both for and against starmer. Eventually he is going to have to climb down off the shelf and start cobbling together a manifesto and offering his vision. When he does , he is going to be slaughtered .
The easy part for him at the minute is sitting back letting the snp and tory governments hang themselves dealing with various issues that we all know labour wouldnt have a clue how to touch. Its easy sitting back letting the media attack both snp and tory governments , but what will labour do regarding immigrant boats , out of control energy prices , high inflation , and so much more at both national local and uk level? Thats before the begin to put the meat on the bones of what the europhile starmer actually means regarding making brexit work?
I couldnt give a fuck about dominic raab resigning , i and millions of others want to know whats in it for us if we lend labour a vote? I suspect both the snp and tories are keeping their powder dry until they get starmer in their sights.
Be interesting to see how it all pans out over the next year and a half till the next UKGE.

so you keep telling us mate , but shouting snp bad and the indy cause is fucked isnt saving your union for you from what i can see. Brexit looks fucked at the minute , with rishi obeying that nice mr presidents diktats over the protocol , and if starmer and mandelson get into number ten , you will be back in the eu before you can say london is under EU law.
The voters are clearly pissed off with all the major parties including the snp in scotland , but many of the underlying issues such as scot indy and brexit remain a stumbling block to your normal politics resuming.
Wales is the only place labour seem to be doing well , with strong support rather than the soft support they are currently polling uk wide.
I will be out mate at the next election with the same two principles in mind that i have had for years now.............scottish independence , and keeping the labour party out at all costs.
Shouldnt you boys be out protesting about the protocol and garnering funds for the tory campaign to help save the rural slum from starmers grubby claws ?

I think we'll be waiting until the cows come home for Starmer to give us any policies on the above ^^
He's making it up as he goes along, he needs to test the water before he'll commit, and so far he gets ahead in the polls when he says and does nothing, the moment he opens his mouth hid lead is lost. So far it's paid off, but when we have a GE looming he's not going to get away with it, and his... 'try to be all things to all people'.. wont wash with people any more.
He's in a no win situation because he can't please all of the people, so he needs to choose which ones are more important, and which will win Labour the next GE.

Nope. I reckon that Starmer is a slightly (very) left of centre politician who wants to be PM. He hasn't got any policies as such and won't rock the boat by upsetting the middle ground.
I don't know why the Brothers and Sisters should want the Rural Slum or how that even got into the conversation, but I will await your explaination.

Sorry Tommy, I must have misunderstood. When asked if he was a socialist, Humza Yousaf replied, "Yes, I believe absolutely in the redistribution of wealth. I don’t have any problem with saying that. I think those that are the wealthiest, those who earn the most should absolutely pay the most in society, particularly for our public services.” www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/politics/humza-yousaf-back-wealth-tax-29553552

borkie im only teasing about the rural slum. If we are being completely honest about things , im sure you will agree you have this nasty losing streak regarding political predictions that you make. The amount of virtual money lost on political betting must be getting pretty high by now .So when you tell me independence is fucked( mind you said that to me in the aftermath of the 2014 indy ref and look what happened with the snp) you will forgive me if i take it with a pinch of salt.
Fucking stope it noo borkie.
By all manner of political descriptions by those who know about politics more than the mere plebs such as you or i , starmer is possibly the most right wing labour leader in history. He is so right wing according to labour stalwarts like srb steve , and of course many others , he and his proteges like rachel reeve should be in the tory party.
I know starmer somehow tickles the fancy of the middle class in the suburbs south of the watford gap , but honestly , north of it , he is seen as a red tory and not fit for purpose.

You know borkie , you need to read my earlier posts on the disaster that is the labour party policy of regurgitating the politics of years gone by.
If tory posters such as yourself think the world is going to be made in margaret thatchers mold by running around calling everyone communist and socialists , you arent going to get very far in 21st century politics.
I dont mind if humza taxes tory pensioners till the pips squeak , but calling him a socialist is a bit much mate.

He is , because his two main selling points to the scottish and english electorate , that is unionism and rejoining the EU isnt popular , so he has to hope he falls into place off the back of discontent with snp and tory rule.
Ive never known a party in political history to oppose public opinion such as labour do with their "we know best " attitude.
Kind of explains why they lose elections more than they win them

not surprised borkie. Politics ,and the law of its unintended consequences is a difficult art to master in terms of predictions.
In the ideal world for labour , they should be out of sight in terms of both scottish and english politics with the state of the tories and the snp , but they arent.
like i said borkie , keir starmer seems to have mastered the art of fluffing open goals and losing elections and votes. He just seems to be a very strange unpopular wooden politician who cant do right for doing wrong.

It might be said that Starmer is a stodgy, self serving son of a bitch Tommy, but to be fair, he does not have a lot of competition

If Starmer is all the Labour party have, and obviously he is, then I think the next general election is a big worry, for Labour.
