Even to the most outraged of lefties it must be pretty obvious that centre right pro Brexit Raab was hounded out by left wing Home Office activists and I have to say, Sunak has gone down in my estimation as well. This sets a dangerous precedent, who decides who should become a minister of state, the prime minister or the notoriously left wing civil service? A rhetorical question, it would seem. I listened to Mathew Parris earlier who summed it up quite nicely, he said he has never liked Dominic Raab, but the way he has been hounded out by civil servants is just wrong. Sunak hasn't gone down in my estimation. It is exactly was what I expected.

Not at all, at all, they see civil service 'minions' as easy picking and thing a few choice words will go unnoticed but the civil service are fighting back. I can't imagine on what moral authority you feel they have a right to use their tax payer funded positions to 'fight' with the bosses assigned to them by the taxpayer The moral authority lies in the bullying. Do you, like it appears to be be with other people, feel they should accept the bulling and get on with it? There is a line between bullying and authority, some people do not know where it is.

So some bullying is acceptable? Being abrasive and a bully are two different things. The reports conclusions find: In other words, they were snowflakes who didn't take kindly to his abrasive criticism. That is not bullying. Do you know what "unconstructive criticism" is, think about it.

Of course. Within the bounds of some kind of actual targeted harassment - ie blackmail or threatening their family. They are paid to deal with pressure etc

What's becoming ever more clear the prospect of there being a Labour government is dwindling, so the Unions, Civil servants, public servants are devising and colluding a plan together to bring down the Tories so Labour can win the next GE, they know Starmer and Labour can't sell themselves to the public, so they'll have to resort to dirty tricks.
In effect the public/civil service are forming their own two tier government, they are the 'new Labour'.

We were talking about this in the driver's room the other day.
20 years ago if you fucked up your boss would give you a roasting but that would be the end of it. Similarly, if you had a barny with a work colleague it would blow over in a few days.
Nowadays, you have these silent assassins in charge, and their solution to everything is a final written warning or dismissal. Wherever you work now you are just a number and the workplaces are soulless. People just come in, keep their head down and do the bare minimum.

Everytime him or one of his acolytes open their mouths , support for labour falls.
....and it is soft support.
Nationalists in scotland know what will happen if labour get in , as do brexiters in England. The big elephants in the room are still sitting there patiently waiting for labour to come to terms with. Im wondering could support for labour fall enough for it to be another hung parliament ?

. People just come in, keep their head down and do the bare minimum. Well thats nothing new though is it? Old Borchester on this very forum once told me he made a career with HMRC doing exactly just that.
I take your wider points though.

I've never seen it this bad. We have drivers that will sit in their trucks rather than the drivers room / canteen because they say its not worth being social in case somebody gets offended and reports you.

I think more and more across scotland and england especially ,people are now starting to wake up to the threat of a labour government led by the incompetent starmer and clowns like the disgusting rachel reeves.
Everytime that party are in power at local national or uk level , i and millions of others are worse off. So it will be interesting to see how they get on , despite the difficulties and incompetence of both the snp and tory governments , im not sure people really want to see another new labour government.

If Labour run true to form this is what happens..
Labour win, they give their pals at the civil service and public sector inflation busting pay rises, to reward them for their loyalty, they will throw tax payers money around like it was confetti, wasting it on lost causes, businesses will go bust because they will want to tax them within a inch of their lives, no big companies will want to invest in the UK.
The last time it happened Gordon Brown had to flog of our gold on the cheap so Labour could balance the books before anyone noticed, they bankrupt the country, the Tories have to step in, and then we are all hit with austerity cuts, all thanks to Labours total incompetence.

One of the most amazing things i saw in the scrum to replace May the Remainer was Raab’s propsal to ditch VAT Had i been a Tory party member that alone would have made me vote for him VAT is an EU invention that fucks the low paid far more than any other group. Prior to being dragged into the EEC we had Purchase Tax on LUXURY goods and no sales tax at all on essentials. Furthermore, only retailers of such goods had to account for this tax. Manufacturers were able to totally ignore itvas it eas a point of sale to the public tax VAT is a monster worthy of the shitshow that wastes hundreds of millions trucking paperwork between Brussels and Strasbourg to placate the French. On 1 January 1973 the UK joined the European Economic Community and as a consequence Purchase Tax was replaced by Value Added Tax on 1 April 1973. indeed it was. And after six years of being fucked about by civil servants who tried their fucking damndest to fuck the voice of the majority over, we LEFT the fucking european hegemony to go rancid un its own juices snd we DIDNT ditch the fucking ridiculous, bureaucratic as fuck, sales tax from hell
