FORGET the fact that most younger people want to be part of Europe
The fact is that many people who voted LEAVE have changed their minds, because they now see that we are now worse off (which we are), and they can see that they were fed a pack of lies.
Every opinion poll conducted over the last five years by every polling company now shows that most British people would vote REMAIN.
Sorry, but the writting is on the wall, we are going to rejoin the EU at some point in the future

Definitely not.
The EU is an insular region of the world where it demands to co-govern national democracies. It is an anathema to the nation-state.
The UK realises there is a world beyond the EU where trade governs cooperation and not just policies and mad-hatter ideology that beholds the EU.
It's time people moved on from their pining of all things EU.

One very stark and very obvious fact arose from the EU Referendum, and that was the huge difference of opinion between young people and older people. Based upon that fact, I have always concluded that its fairly obvious that given time ( when the old farts have snuffed it ), the UK will eventually rejoin the European Union. In the 18 - 24 age group, the REMAIN vote was 73%, in the 25 to 34 age group 63% in favour of REMAIN Accept that the when the old farts have snuffed it the young ones who voted to remain will be further down the road to be old farts . So, you and your Gammon peers on this forum were in favour of the EU when you were younger? You must have been if you're suggesting that people generally change their minds from what they once believed as they get older. I'm finding it hard to envision the young Jonksy and Fairy wrapped in an EU flag.

They would have to be negotiated but are unlikely to be as favourable as the ones we had. Would you consider rejoining on any terms we could conceivably get? I would be surprised if you said yes. Well I personally wouldn't vote for it, but if it means the UK taking on the Euro and joining Schengen then it would make more sense than where we were last time. Are you serious? You have no problem with the UK being absorbed into some European state that no electorates ever had a choice of voting against. And you're a moderator on this forum?

But you've overlooked that all of those youngsters will eventually be oldsters. That's right. As people get older they get wiser. Most of these youngsters don't know what the EU is. But we could never rejoin the EU. For a start we'd have to join the EU which would rapidly bankrupt us - we'd end up like Greece.

Well of course the issue is unless you aim for a US style political federal union with federal control of economic policy the concept of a common currency worth the same intrinsic value in all EU countries is quite impossible … As you say, you wouldn’t vote for it. Neither would i and my reasons are as shown here.

The only gammons I see around here are those that have gone pink after the announcement of the CPTPP.
