Yada yada, the fact is, the ban on fracking has been lifted. FFS get over it. We all know that. I was just calling out your OP as a blatant lie. Just like Labour are blatantly lying with their targeted ads against certain Tory MPs. Labour are pretending to be morally superior to the Tories, yet they are destroying opposition MPs with lies. This is my problem, instead of winning arguments Labour resorts to accusations and demonization of their opponents, whilst shouting "shameful" and "Tory scum" across the chamber. And then people like you gloss over their behaviour, like moronic Democrats turning a blind eye to the disastrous Biden and Harris. I haven't 'glossed over' anything. I'm not just a tory voter, I'm a member of the conservative party and I assure you that in recent months I have let my local MP, my local area chairman, the party chairman and even Sir Graham Brady know exactly what my feelings are about the current cock up that is the parliamentary conservative party which is an embarrassment, they should be fuckin ashamed of themselves. I gloss over nothing; my local MP knows me very well. But I'm not going to sit here and join in the lefty chorus of slagging off the Tories.

Think I would wait and see what the next new PM says about fracking. I’d be amazed if anyone wished to continue with it tbh. The government has debated and voted on the issue. Having said that, I suppose in good old remainiac tradition, you want another vote? Ah yes no doubt they will want a vote without the bullying and threats. Bloody snowflakes.

I'm sure we'll see how everyone feels if the power goes off in winter. Fracking would not make a difference anyway.

Russia is going to freeze half of Europe this winter to teach them a lesson, they are not going to give up because the West say they are losing.
This war will go on for years so extra North Sea wells and fracking (if they could ever get locals to agree with it) will make a difference.

On the South side of the North York Moors National Park, half an hour from me, is the village of Kirby Misperton, the site of what was a controversial Fracking test site.
The people who live in Kirby Misperton do not want Fracking, neither do any of the other neighbouring villages. There are 5 Town Councils within 20 minutes drive, Pickering, Malton, Norton, Helmsley and Kirkbymoorside, and every Town Council opposes Fracking.
THe people of the area are opposed to Fracking, not least because many of the possible sites are either within, or close to the National Park.
The area is part of the Malton & Thirsk Parliamentary constituency, a fairly solid Conservative seat held by Kevin Hollinrake, however the constituency did switch to Liberal in a by-election in the late 1980s.
WHY do the Conservatives not listen to THE PEOPLE ?

So we should have no major infrastructure and building projects unless the local people agree? - no HS2, Elizabeth Line, no mass housebuilding, no new roads etc etc It doesnt sound like the wisest way to run a country.

You don't understand it then. Apparently, they have been doing it since the 40's with little if any problems, if its safe we need to do it here

Apparently, they have been doing it since the 40's with little if any problems, if its safe we need to do it here Fracking has been safely used in the United States since 1947. More than 1.7 million U.S. wells have been completed using the fracking process, producing more than seven billion barrels of oil and 600 trillion cubic feet of natural gas.

Pacifico >> "So we should have no major infrastructure and building projects unless the local people agree? - no HS2, Elizabeth Line, no mass housebuilding, no new roads etc etc

Lets look at the "PURPOSE" of National Parks, which is enshrined in law
In England and Wales they are:
Conserve and enhance the natural beauty, wildlife and cultural heritage.
Promote opportunities for the understanding and enjoyment of the special qualities of national parks by the public.
In carrying out these purposes, National Park Authorities are also required to seek to foster the economic and social well-being of local communities in the National Park.
I accept that roads, homes, transport networks etc are necessary - but Fracking is not necessary, and the defacto answer for Fracking applications in or close to National Parks should always be .... NO
