We are and have taken our 'fair share'. Applications can be made for family reunion for any refugee. It's happening down here all the time with our Ukranian friends we have. Unfortunatley thanks to putins murderous antics some have lost all their family. We had a case down here a few weeks ago where a 14 yeat old girl threw herself off the cliffs at Dawlish because her father had been murdered by putin just weeks before it was organised that she would meet up with her Ukrain father in Poland. The Ukrainians are given their own scheme and are not counted as Asylum Seekers. They are given the right to work in this country.

It mentions the Ukraine scheme, which I did too, and the Hong Kong Scheme, which I haven't. None of the people arriving under these schemes will be classed as asylum seekers. So your "many and varied" turns out not to be so. Hence why the government will need to look at some other safe and legal routes. Whether that is for specific countries, or how that will work, is yet to be defined.

Surely the more relevant question is why should there be any asylum seekers amongst those who are already in safe countries? There may be reasons why they wish to come to the UK. Factors such as language, friends and family exist. If we were taking more than our fair share, you may have a point, similarly if they could just get on a plane and arrive here directly. How do you calculate 'fair share' Surely level of inherent overcrowding and homelessness have to be taken into account. We really are not good on either measure.

You missed the point that a person can make a claim in a safe country, become a refugee and seek to be transferred to the UK through many and varied schemes designed to meet the needs of refugees. These are the proper channels to get to the UK as initially an asylum seeker and then as a refugee. What you want is asylum seekers to be able to request the UK as a refuge from any location. That will increase the applications and will not stop the small boats full of people who know they have little chance of being granted asylum but know there is also little chance of them being deported.

I refer you to Michael Gove's interview with Sophie Ridge last Sunday. To be honest there has to be, otherwise you are saying that there can be no asylum seekers. The question is how and where to do it. In the year to June 2022 we took in almost 200,000 asylum seekers and refugees - how many more do you want, and where do you propose to put them?

Tell me how many of those who enter our shores illegaly try and fit in and be a benefit to our country? There was a language barrier when the Ukrainians first came in but they have adopeted our language and customs and have taken the bother to learn English and they work for a living and expect nothing for free allthough may of them had lost everything in their endevour to get out of harms way of the russian's. They are welcomed into the community down here just as the Poles were in WW2. Just up the road from me there is a young Unkranian girl who was traing as a Doctor before putin invaded their land and next month she is returning to the Ukrain to sit her final exams and will be fully qualified to work in the NHS. If we had a NHS that was run by those who are no more than chancers she would be able to sit for her finals in the UK.

The UK government have set a target of 300 K new houses per anum by the mid 20's. And that still won't be enough for the influx we have coming to our shores....I think andy thinks we are as big as the USA rather than a small Island that is full to the brim.

I don't want them coming here, living in hotels and getting handouts. I'd much prefer them to able to work and integrate with society too. I think we're in agreement there. In terms of how many are genuine asylum seekers - well currently about 70% are successful. Is that because our criteria is set too losely, or because most of those coming here are genuine AS could indeed be a query, as that figure is slightly higher than other comparable nations.

Its very simple it's only the UK who are fucking stupid enough to allow this invaision, Austaralia started ramming the boats of the Vietmanese boat invaders and the problem was solved in a few short weeks. Genuine asylum seekers or others DO NOT DISCARD or DESTROY their own docummentation.....FFS sake we have had 30 year old men comming to UK and making out they are only 14 years old. And lets not even enter the realms of our woke navy and RNLI who aid these illegals rather than turning them back. And the frogs have had millions from the UK in the past and are still demanding more to to supposedly stop this flow of dross reaching our shores.
