Perhaps you've not noticed there's farmland in Kent and Hertfordshire, and that there are also registered gun clubs within easy reach of London.
Bisley is easily visited too... I know I live in Hertfordshire , been shooting since I was about 14 years of age, have legally held firearms , also shot at Bisley a number of times and elsewhere and still go rough shooting and clays occasionally, if you do shoot why are you so badly informed ? We may bump into each other at Brookwood sometime then.
So if you're that experienced, please correct what I've said that you think makes me so badly informed...

An indication of what you consider wrong instead of fatuous comments, might not be so much fun for you, but we might learn something about your opinions... Well, let's revisit shall we?
That could be the problem — they’re taught how to shoot, but not necessarily how to handle firearms responsibly in the various situations in civilian scenarios and evaluated as to their fitness to be let loose with guns among the public… And if you had any idea of what you're talking about, you'd know that situational awareness makes up the bulk of police firearms training. There were 18,259 firearms incidents in the year ending 31 March 2022 and just 4 incidents in which police firearms were discharged.
So they get it right at least 99.98% of the time, which is why you have to go back 17 years to find an example of where they didn't.
And speaking of fatuous opinions, perhaps you should make yours known to your FEO the next time you renew your firearms certificate and let us know how you get on. Exactly, it is the Police Firearms Offices that once deployed to deal with a situation where a weapon of some kind or a Firearm every single time have to make the decision to open fire or not and held responsible for that decision , 17 years ago which was a cock up from start to finish that decision was taken away from the Officers, they were ordered to open fire by the Senior Officer in charge of the operation,

We will never meet thankfully , read you own post your lack of knowledge and lack of awareness of living in the real world is obvious , you appear to not be aware of what is happening on the streets around you and near you, replicated across London virtually ever day and elsewhere in the UK, I know what Hackney is like I did have the misfortune to live there for a few years many years ago, I went through it a week ago to day on the overground to attend a funeral in Tower Hamlets , glad to get out again www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11914595/Chilling-moment-gang...

I'm fully aware of what info the authorities put online — and I'm also aware the four incidents you refer to do not give the number of guns discharged or the number of shots fired. Nor do they include other uses of firearms off site by police firearms officers.
Unlike you, I do not believe firearms training and the quality and trustworthiness of all officers has improved since the police killing of Jean Charles de Menezes over the last 17 years, any more than the Met has improved sine Macpherson as highlighted again by Baroness Casey...

And, like the findings of McPherson and Casey, your opinions appear to be based on very little in the way of real evidence.

But as we've been here before, I guess we'll just have to wait to see if the Met has the new broom it needs...

So now Pat is a black man with a gun?
No wonder the police keep pulling him over and giving him a kicking.

Oh, I can assure you that nothing will change in the Met because the senior officer cadre charged with improving it will be drawn from the same pool that fucked it up in the first place.
So the rank and file will be sent on pointless "Diversity" training courses, a few will be thrown under the bus for minor matters so that "Something can be seen to be done" and the real issues of poor training, poor supervision and lack of discipline will continue unaddressed.
And in thirty years time, if we're still here, we'll be having the same conversation all over again. Indeed, if every Met officer were a black lesbian we'd still hear accusations of "Racism", "Misogyny" and "Homophobia" because policing has become a political football and it's easier to kick the police than it is to actually deal with the real, deep-rooted social issues.

Stop being so childish, if you cannot see what is happening day in day out around you and in the Media right across the UK there is little hope for you ever living in the real world

Sadly — I agree. The new head was one of Dick’s compadres. The second tier appear to be the old guard too. Apparently, diversity training and public-facing skills are mainly taught by old instructors who openly ridicule the subjects. But I remain hopeful that the current outcry over Wayne Couzens and reports that at least 15 UK serving or former police officers have killed women since 2009 have stirred up enough of the majority population to ensure changes are made. But it will be a slow process to allow more officers to retire gracefully from ill-health with pensions intact. And perhaps that’s a price worth paying…

Which I think speaks volumes about the "Diversity" industry.

As any remaining competence , honesty or policing is worn away by continuous applications of the race grievance angle grinder, the situation will deteriorate

And perhaps that’s a price worth paying… One of the main problems is that the police must be aware of and react differently to the varying diversities of culture which flies in the face of all the anti racism we used to hear about just a few decades ago. No longer are they expected to be colour blind they have to be aware of both colour and culture. So much for the law to be applied equally without fear or favour.
