lots of iraqis and gulf war veterans rang up LBC yeterday, as it was 20 years since the invasion of iraq, and they were all pretty scathing about the event

I derive satisfaction from seeing right-wingers whinging all because the Tories were kept out of office by NL for 13 years LOL. Sick individuals always contrive to grab the opportunity to deny the reality, distort the truth and to insinuate lies. Right -wingers in particular are prone to this dishonest behaviour, it appears to be in their DNA. But don't worry about the million dead - as long as you can stick it to the right-wing... Says it all about the ethics of those on the Left.. You mean the false claim put out by that American lot that included estimates on all deaths including natural and accidental deaths. But no DNA led nasty would miss such an opportunity to insinuate lies for political purposes. Would they Estimates of the casualties from the Iraq War (beginning with the 2003 invasion of Iraq, and the ensuing occupation and insurgency and civil war) have come in several forms, and those estimates of different types of Iraq War casualties vary greatly. Estimating war-related deaths poses many challenges. Experts distinguish between population-based studies, which extrapolate from random samples of the population, and body counts, which tally reported deaths and likely significantly underestimate casualties. Population-based studies produce estimates of the number of Iraq War casualties ranging from 151,000 violent deaths as of June 2006 (per the Iraq Family Health Survey) to 1,033,000 excess deaths (per the 2007 Opinion Research Business (ORB) survey). Other survey-based studies covering different time-spans find 461,000 total deaths (over 60% of them violent) as of June 2011 (per PLOS Medicine 2013), and 655,000 total deaths (over 90% of them violent) as of June 2006 (per the 2006 Lancet study). Body counts counted at least 110,600 violent deaths as of April 2009 (Associated Press). The Iraq Body Count project documents 185,000–208,000 violent civilian deaths through February 2020 in their table. All estimates of Iraq War casualties are disputeden.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casualties_of_the_Iraq_War

You are obviously an intelligent individual so you must be aware that if you are not well informed on the many positive and successful changes made by Blair in the early years, then you cannot cannot form either well informed opinions or well informed comments on NL. That is plainly obvious. You are probably correct in claiming that I'm in a minority, but I have been pointing out for at least 15 years the repeated insinuated lies about Blair that are believed by so many. The ONLY thing that leaves me in the minority, if that is the case, is that I have no chance of competing with the Tory propaganda machine and the backing it gets from much of the media. You don't need to change your political allegiance but the better informed you become, the more realistic become your posts. Change my allegiance? I (sadly) voted for Blair and what a mistake I made. Sure there were some improvements but on balance the cons vastly outweighed the pros, the war, lies, corruption and attempts to curtail freedoms. I have no illusions about tories but what you see is what you get unlike Blair. Your post is a pack of lies ^^^ Please get better informed before posting any more of your overopinionated posts to me.

An inversion of the truth. All of the lying and deceit came from those championing the invasion, as is obvious to most now. Don't be so stupid. 12 years of refusing to comply with UN resolutions requiring Saddam to fully cooperate with UN Inspectors and the Ceasefire agreement. UN Res. 1441. "A final opportunity to comply" and resolve the issue "By all means necessary". Hans Blix complaining about Saddam "playing cat and mouse" with UN Inspectors thus denying the inspectors the opportunity to prove or disprove the presence of WMD. Blix' accusations about unexplained "missing weapons and Chemicals" proved to be true when the Iraq Survey Group in their follow up after the invasion found 50 WMD. All Saddam had to do was to comply with 1441 and there would have been no invasion. Those against the invasion have to come up with a reason why Saddam would not fully comply with the ceasefire agreement. A Ceasefire agreement, a break in hostilities while a peaceful forward agreement is found. One was found but was not adhered to by Saddam, thus the ceasefire was null and void and a state of hostilities still existed. NONE OF THE ABOVE ARE LIES, but all were ignored by those against the invasion. I don't speak for Bush or American lies/exaggerations. But those against the invasion denied the reality of the situation, they lied by deception. Dont' be so stupid? Thats rich coming from you. You can whitewash all you want but we all know who was telling the lies and it was not those who opposed the war who have mostly been vindicated by what followed.

He is so anti left that he sees me as an extremist, having himself voted Tory in 2019. This latter is not something any genuine left winger would ever do

I am VERY interested in proof. I am not INFORMED by people's beliefs or opinions or by the use 3rd persons opinions. (Opinions and insinuations are the very essence of right-wing propaganda). I suggest that in future if you wish to "inform" me, you do it with the evidence that backs up your 'claim'. That way I can judge for myself just how genuine any accusation is. I have no problem with learning from any mistake I make.

Owen Jones ha ha ha, you're scaping the barrel now fico. The thing is, Owen Jones has more honesty and integrity in his little finger than your hero has in his entire body. And he speaks a lot of sense of a kind that galls your own soft thatcherism. So of course he must be an extremist to, eh?
