The government cant govern. People are gluing themselves to roads causing chaos, with impunity. We are being invaded daily, and reward them for doing so. The EU still governs us through N Ireland and legislation. Because we let them. Wokery is causing civil war, no one in government knows how to deal with it. Take one wrong step and hell breaks loose.

How did we get here?

A large section of our problems are a result of our massive over-reaction to covid. The country is seriously in debt and this means that, unless we are prepared to do something dramatic and gritty about it, we have significantly lost self rule. What we have just observed is a series of soft coups. The civil service needed to be tackled decades ago - the people we elect barely have any power.

Ok To address the main point then. How did we get here. I’m not sure. I know I was too busy thinking about running my business, making money and paying off the mortgage with it to take any interest in what the political scum were doing. To add to that, the chap who served as my MP, although Labour, was a bit of a renegade, and I recall very early in his time as my MP a vote in the house came up that perplexed him and he contacted our local paper, told the editor this and asked that his constituents contact him with their views. We did. In particular several of us wrote giving specific scientific arguments why the bill, and the party line in it, was a bad idea, and I in particular suggested he contact three scientists to get their views And he DID And he changed his mind and voted the other way to his stated original intent, and he wrote back to me saying I was far from the only constituent who wrote to express the views I did, and many suggested he seek the opinions of the people I said he should talk to. So I’ve been spoiled. I had an MP who when handed a calmly worded critique of his chosen action with suggestions of how to follow up on it, took those points to heart, went out and found out for himself and not only changed his mind but publicly said so. Unsurprisingly even though I had long since moved from the constituency, I made a point of attending his funeral a few years ago. So in my case the fault for where we are lies with my having had the benefit of a reasonable, intelligent chap not afraid to speak his mind as my MP and think it a common trait. |
