Does that impartiality apply to the BBC chairman too or is he allowed to keep his position even though he's a Conservative party donor? Wasn't that taken into consideration when he applied and successfully became the BBC chairman? I assume he passed all the criteria required for the post, so I suggest you take it up with the BBC. He was appointed to the post by the Conservative government. He basically ''bought' his commission.

Well the Conservative government made a very bad choice, because the BBC have become the Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Labour party. The Conservatives clearly fucked up allowing the chairman of the BBC to promote the Labour party, let's hope the Conservatives have learnt their lesson.

Gary Lineker taken off air by BBC as star steps back from Match of the Day BBC have confirmed Gary Lineker will not present Match of the Day this weekend and say his social media posts were a 'breach of our guidelines', but sources close to the presenter claim the decision to 'step back' from the show was not a joint one.
*Please note for purposes of the outraged lefties the link is not from the DM
Would you have asked for Lineker to be suspended if he'd said that all Asylum Seekers should be deported?

Would you have asked for Lineker to be suspended if he'd said that all Asylum Seekers should be deported? Lineker should know his place, he's a second rate football commentator and that's what he should stick to, same as Suella Braverman should not comment on Linker and his football presentation skills, he isn't Home Secretary and she isn't a football pundit, so the moral of the tale is stick to what you know and what you are employed to do.
We don't need football pundits becoming politicians and we don't need politicians becoming football pundits ... each to their own.

Cruella is entitled to have an opinion on football and Lineker is entitled to an opinion on government policy. He didn't make that opinion on the BBC.

I also note that he didn't actually answer my question either. Interesting, as they say. I'll draw my own conclusions.

Gary Linekar HAS NOT been sacked, he is "stepping back" from presenting Match Of The Day ( for now ), by mutual agreement. But I will tell you this ... Gary Linekar wont backdown, because unlike the Tory cowards who are at the top of the BBC, Gary Linekar is a man of principle. Further more, Gary Linekar couldnt give a toss even if the BBC did sack him, because there are almost certainly others, already lining up to snap him up for his talents. He's not 'stepping back' LOL
He's been taken off air.
The arrogant political activist has just lost he FREE mouthpiece platform to promote his preferred political Labour party LOL Lineker did not use his BBC ''mouthpiece'' to criticise government policy. Nor did he use it when he criticised the Labour party.

Gary Winston Lineker ... he was born on Churchill's birthday ... that's how he got his middle name. Lineker has said that it was Churchill who inspired his decision to make his opinions known. So ... is he really "Far left" as people keep saying?

Gary Winston Lineker ... he was born on Churchill's birthday ... that's how he got his middle name. Lineker has said that it was Churchill who inspired his decision to make his opinions known. So ... is he really "Far left" as people keep saying? His parents honoured Churchill by naming him with Winston. That didn't affect his views and if you are arguing he must be to the right because of his parent's choice of a name, you might just be wrong.

Yes, another leftie trying to influence politics, using his privileged status as a BBC football pundit, paid for by licence fee payers to peddle is left wing agenda. We don't pay our licence fees to fund left wing activists who are using the BBC as a FREE platform to promote their PERSONAL political preferences.
Sack the twat Lineker.

You are being thick here. As already pointed out he did NOT use the BBC platform for his views.
Fairsociety making things up again. 🙄

seniorcitizen007 Middle of the road by BBC standards. You have to venture into BBC 'Five Live' territory if it's unadulterated Trotskyism you're looking for..
