For many centuries the nations of Europe fought one another and looked upon each other with suspicion, this culminated in two devastating and disaterous wars which involved most of the world. But then, after the Second World War, people with great vision and foresight decided that it was time that the nations of Europe should be brought together and united in such a way that war would never happen again, and that only co-operation for the good of all should be the aim. The Father of The European Dream was Robert Schuman, a former French Prime Minister For now, or for the time been, the British have rejected the European dream, but not for very long, because as sure as night follows day, we will return at some point. The reason we will return is basically because its a bloody good idea, it makes so much sense to unite and work together, and leaving the EU is a temporary setback. This sounds like a Hitler speech.

In order to steady the ship the leavers unbalanced they have to justify their decision by saying the UK can leave this, reject that and do without the other.
This is the definition of a rogue state and other countries avoid such places. Business and trade works on trust, as does the enormous insurance and banking funds which allow for investment and growth. Put simply, if the UK throws out all the rules, no one is going to trust the country. You will have to pay huge over the top interest rates to get corporate insurance, if you can get it at all. Banks wont lend to companies for investment and growth. The value of the pound will plummet and no one will bail it out.
No one will deal with a rogue state which doesnt respect rules, especially now they have seen such instability in government, not forgetting Boris' efforts to prorogue Parliament. Ie strip the country of its democratic voice and establish an oligarchy. When you reject rules and feel you can do anything you want, no one will want to know the country. No one can trust it.
This mania about complete sovereignty is an adolescent's wet dream.adults make compromises, come to agreements, make alliances, work together and demonstrate stability. The UK has to reestablish such voluntary willingness before it can be trusted again.

^^ According to EU Fascist Weekly the UK has to abandon its sovereignty, democracy and self-respect to be trustworthy.

The same principle applies to any country in the world. And you dont need a trade agreement or WTO membership to get it. Well since there is only one country in the world that does not trade under WTO rules...Mauritania I think, I think you would find it hard not to trade under WTO rules. You are it seems unable to think past fundamental kindergarten trade principles. Rules and agreements are in place to prevent smuggling, prevent fraudulent materials entering a country, prevent the spread of phytosanitary disease, prevent poor quality junk being sold as high quality expensive goods, prevent fraud cases going through courts. Your argumwnt is the same anarchy as " why do we have laws. We can get along without them". Yes. But not for long. Iran is not in the WTO yet we managed to do £700 million worth of trade with them last year - and that was complying with the sanctions regime. And I do wish you would stop telling me (incorrectly) what my argument is - I'm quite capable of making my own arguments thank you very much.

Meanwhile, peace in Europe has succeeded with the exception of several vicious wars among the Eastern/Baltic nations.

And stop taking small snippets out of context.
The EU has become what it is by decisions taken by its members, not because of the ideas spoken in the abstract by one person.
No wonder you are one of the 17 million who swallow what you are told and cant think past three word slogans. Happily a large number of them have seen through the fog.

The EU might become a good idea, currently Greece is a write-off, the Netherlands farming community is mightily annoyed with closing farms over Nitrogen levels which I don't get when half of south eastern Eu is wild. Most of Northern EU is annoyed with large scale immigration yet is not allowed a political voice to express this.
If we go back it in, it should be only as England yet hopefully by then it will have a different governance methodology.

The above is a list of old anti EU headlines so beloved of the Daily Mail, some going back years. Greece is doing better than the UK
"Greece's economy grew by 1.4% quarter-on-quarter in the final three months of 2022, extending the revised 0.4% growth in the previous period to book its fastest expansion since the first quarter of the year." Greece GDP Growth Rate - 2022 Data - 2023 Forecast
EU agriculture is doing well, given the odd weather. Immigration rates and proc3ss3s is decided by MEMBER NATIONS, not the EU as a whole. Sometimes the members work together, sometimes not. Do not absorb Daily Mail headlines like a sponge and assume the reality never changes.and you would do well to know what is in the aegis of the EU and what is decided by member nations.

Greece is set to graduate from post-bailout monitoring — and government and creditors are touting the exit as the end of a dark era that inflicted deep scars on the economy and society. Rather than diversifying its economy, Greece remains hugely dependent on tourism. And the vast majority of businesses — typically small enterprises — are considered insolvent.Meanwhile, Greece still bears the dubious distinction as the only eurozone member whose sovereign debt has junk rating — even though Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis claims that the country could achieve investment grade status in the first half of 2023. There is some light in the tunnell though far too early to it is a success www.politico.eu/article/greece-exit-bailout-monitor-austerity-economy/
