The Yorkshire beach where £2.1bn cable carrying electricity from Scottish windfarms will come onshore
Landowners in East Yorkshire have complained of feeling "pressurised" over an undersea electricity “superhighway” from Scotland to England which will cross their land.
Another example of why labour and tory dont want scotland to leave......they need our resources along with much else.....

If Yorkshire landowners are afraid that an undersea cable will cross their land, I can see that they are going to be hard people to deal with.
The problem with the Scottish Nats is not independence, but that great chunks of the English electorate don't give a fuck either way.

What is the "much else", culture? cuisine? comedy politicians?
In the unlikely event of separation the finances of Scotland will be in such a parlous state they will be grateful to flog the odd kilowatt to their enemies in England. UDI might change that as Westminster will have sent the Army in and it will all be academic anyway.

England's offshore wind farms total nameplate capacity: 11,044mw. Scotland's offshore wind farms total name plate capacity: 1,858mw.
Argument that Scotland's offshore wind powers England, demolished.

This was on Countryfile a couple of weeks ago, the Farmers are concerned about their land and the damage and disruption of the arable land especially the drainage and all the work they have put into the land and the woodland, they have been told very little about what will take place, will the cable be run under their land ? , or will pylons be erected they don't know not been told.?
At the end of the day they will probably have no say it it all

You were the one prattling on about how offshore wind in Scotland keeps the lights on in England and it turns out England has ten times as much offshore wind farms.
However, the wind doesn't always blow.
People like you Thomas, adopted EU policy on coal divestment and shut down reliable coal fired power stations before like for like sustainable capacity was in place in the grid.
People like me warned, but nobody listened to me. The EU, and Amber Rudd our former energy minister thought wind turbines could do it all. You thought the same.
EU and you, were wrong. It is supplimentary power, not dependable constant power.
Solar is more effective, but only works in daylight.
Offshore wave power is better than offshore wind. And we need to build.
We also need to build new nuclear power stations. Again, people like you opposed.
Molten salt reactor power stations would offer large amounts of electricity without the risk of reactor meltdowns, and without producing weapons grade byproducts.
We need at least ten new nuclear power stations. People like you want to replace petrol and diesel cars with electric.
Already demand on the grid from electric cars is pushing up prices.

England should stop stealing Scotland's electricity and the Scots should be allowed to keep it and feed the stuff to their bairns and rub it on their chests. That will bring the England to its knees

That will bring the England to its knees I dont think any one of us europeans want to bring england to its knees. Thats unfair borkie. No one wants an anglo saxon banana republic in chaos on their doorstep.
What i dont understand is why is it the tory voting englishman has a meltdown when you tell him he is reliant on european nations like scotland for electricity , or france for example for fine wines , the spanish for tomatoes and of course johhny foreigners money passing through the square mile in your fine city?
We europeans arent trying to bring you to your knees. What we are trying to do is stop the geriatric fantasists playing with their toy redcoats , and bring you into the modern world instead of waffling on about how you had an empire once 100 years ago and how you are exceptional.
Im just surprised at the interest in this thread , and dare i say the "anger " im sensing about scotland daring to keep the lights on in England.?
I thought nobody cared? Am i reading the room correctly?

You were the one prattling on about how offshore wind in Scotland keeps the lights on in England and it turns out England has ten times as much offshore wind farms. per head of population , scotland produces more than 18 times renewable energy than what england does.
It wasnt that long ago rishi the remainer was announcing scotlands oil and gas was to bail out the Yookay to the tune of £5 billion.
We also have 92 % of the uks hydro electric production , and we are of course the only part of the disunited kingdom that can feed itslef , power itself and fuel itself and still have plenty left to export.
