Parliament at that time consisted of 70% remain supporting MP's - had they wanted EFTA membership we would have it by now. Try and learn something about the subject at least..  The point is...

Population of Scotland 5.5m population of England, 55.98 million.
England has more people and needs more MPs to represent all voters. Scotland has more MPs per capita than England but that's not enough for the SNP cultists. They want the tail to wag the dog.

I'm more concerned with the stupidity. We get SNP supporters bitching about the relationship with the EU when their own representatives in Parliament voted against a closer relationship with the EU.. It used to be said that Scotland had the best education system in the UK - well that is obviously far from the case nowdays..  |

The closest relationship to the eu is being a member , what we had , and the next best thing is EFTA. Had all scotlands representatives voted for EFTA membership the tory brexiter vote and other english parties votes would have still swung the vote the opposite way .
Only 59 tories voted for it . 34 snp voted against. Add the two together along with the few labour , that would have given the "ayes "98 , and the "noes" 343 . A big fat no to EFTA.

Plus if Thomas had achieved his dream in 2014, Scotland would not now be in either the EU or EFTA, but trying to negotiate to join the EU, with an excessively high budget deficit in contravention of EU rules, and a border and customs dispute. As ever with brexiters and british nationalists , its always someone elses fault when the elysian fields of the brexit fantasy dont appear. The majority of brexiters , tory membership and conservative home were all railing against EFTA , which is why it didnt get voted through.
As for remainers.....pro europeans wanted european membership and not some second prize efta memerbship , that is of course if norway would have said yes? Well who knew?
