Nicola Sturgeon has more dignity in her little finger than Farage and Trump put together. On a list of the world’s most eloquent leaders compiled by professional development coaches from the Development Academy wing of Acuity Training, who reviewed more than 100 hours of footage from press conferences, speeches and other public addresses throughout 2020 and named former US President Barack Obama as the most effective communicator of the last decade, Nicola Sturgeon was judged fifth. The experts who drew up the list described her as “clear, calm and compassionate.” They said”: “She has a measured and authoritative sincerity about her – she is kind and compassionate, without shying away from tough issues…Nicola Sturgeon has received a lot of praise for her response to the coronavirus pandemic – and it’s not hard to see why. She is clear, calm and compassionate, is not afraid to be tough or emotional, and she has a great sense of humour. There’s no sense of performance with Sturgeon – she is very real.” “They described Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “very unique public speaker”, saying: “Unlike many of his colleagues, the former foreign secretary and mayor of London has had a tendency to forgo pauses in favour of muttering or waffling, and his use of odd or obscure references often left people confused about his message.” www.scotsman.com/news/politics/nicola-sturgeon-makes-top-five-list-worlds-most-eloquent-leaders-2928507www.thetimes.co.uk/article/praise-for-eloquent-nicola-sturgeon-59fzt8pt7www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nicola-sturgeon-eloquent-leader-full-list-world-boris-johnson-a9646021.htmlLast night my Corbyn supporting drinking pal insisted that what Sturgeon has done on the subject of gender identity is mire than Sunak, or, regrettably, Starmer has. How so john? As you know i dont support the GRR bill. However you need to disentangle the brit nat politics and brit nat media lens on the subject . Both labour and conservative rightly or wrognly supported sturgeons GRR bill.
It was in the snp manifesto since 2016 , had years of debate , labour enthusiastically voted for it , with starmer saying he will be bringing in a similar bill in England apart form the age of majority will be 18 instead of 16.
Tory london leadership gave tory msps a free vote on it , with some voting against but tories like jackson carlaw (former scottish tory leader) and gulhane voting for it , with penny mordaunt , theresa may and michale fabricant supporting it from england.
So while scotland appears to have been the guniea pig , have no doubt similar is coming to england and wales. The tories may have tried political opportunism , withdrawing support for GRR when it suited to try and knife sturgeon , thats a given.
Have no doubt though , they are up to their necks in it , and as i said if as looks likely starmer gets in , an english welsh GRR bill looks likely. This isnt over by a long stretch.
As salmond said , its a foreign divisive ( dig at the yanks) ideology that undermines womans rights and safety.

Has Jacinda Ardern, NZ PM, set a trend — will political leaders realise for themselves that they “no longer had enough in the tank” to do the job? Admittedly it's unsettling — and it's resulted in chaos in the UK since 2016 — but slipping a new PM into post can be as easy as changing socks...Which is as it should be - we elect a PM, not a Head of State. Many people are now saying we should dissolve the scottish parliament due to sturgeon resigning as first minister , and use the resultant election as a plebiscite for independence..............

Wee krankie’s husband urged to step aside as SNP chief executive amid ‘missing’ £600,000 Peter Murrell, the party’s chief executive officer, is planning to stay in his role during the election of his wife’s successor. However, one of the SNP’s own MPs at Westminster called on Mr Murrell to step aside on Wednesday and called for a “neutral caretaker CEO” to take his place.

Fully agree. Joanna cherry has been vocal on this point.

Where is Jaydee this morning? Here is another political assessment to the Sturgeon horror show. Richard Tice? Head of a pressure group that cant get any substantial votes in scotland as they are seen as a right wing english pressure group detested by most ordinary scots?
Are you at the bottom of the barrell yet om?

Education, health, welfare, potholes, business support, ferries, becoming a laughing stock over woke, being the most ridiculous voice of devolution and completely destroying any chance of independence isn't better than anything. If you elect Gary Glitter as FM it can't be worse. Nigel Farage has just said on his GB News programme that Sturgeon is the most unpleasant person he has ever met. Edited to add;- Mr Trump has issued a statement saying "goodbye to woke rubbish." An international viewpoint. Barack Obama also failed to live upto anywhere close to expectations which meant he also failed at communicated where it actually mattered - with congress & the senate. If anything he opened the door for Donald Trump and is in no small part responsible for not handling America better and leaving it far more divided than it has been in a long time. Surely the metric by which politicians are judged is how successful they are at bringing their policies into legislation and the benefits it brings to the society after they do so. Now, I’m not going to slam Nicola, she’s been in politics along time, and when you set aside the memery and jokes about her, she’s without doubt committed to her cause, she’s never changed her stance and while I disagree with her primary goal, I respect that. Unfortunately for her, it seems her goal did not resonate enough with the people of Scotland and/or did she play the ‘game’ well enough with Westminster to see her dream fulfilled. She won’t be the first politician to fail to legislate their primary political ambition, she certainly won’t be the last. I’ll let others here debate her other policies (because I don’t follow Scottish regional politics closely), but Scotland could have had far worse. About the only other Scottish politician that really stood out during her reign was (imo), Ruth Davidson but that was a few years ago and I did love watching them both debate. Anyway, I wish Nicola all the best in her future and hopefully she can enjoy some well deserved time with her family.

A very interesting and plausible take. You say the (say) conservatives are 'up to their necks in it', but what does this mean? I'm intrigued by what sort of forces could make a successful politician talk patent moral gibberish to the point of the destruction of their own career and setting their cause back significantly

To be honest i cant follow his argument i just repeated what he said. I don’t really hold with a lot of this identity crap but that’s from the days when Harriet Harman famously declared a man who has had a surgeon chop off their dick to become a woman should be interviewed for a job designing a nuclear weapon before a white, straight, married, middle aged software enginer has their cv considered. And i hold the view i do because i don’t think a person who cannot handle the fact of what genitalia or indeed any other physical attribute they arrived in this world equipped with is mentally stable enough to be involved in that kind of work. I really, honestly, CANNOT understand how someone gets to do Sturgeon’s job can fail to see the problem of putting a physically still fully equipped rapist in a women's prison. And i start not from JK Rowling’s stance that prioritising the demands of such people over the common sense rights of real women is wrong, even if those real women have committed crimes warranting incarceration and therefore should be regarded as far less deserving of rights than those clever enough not to have been caught… or bribed their way out of prosecution No, i think putting a bloke with a dick and a record of raping women for the fun of it in a women’s prison is inviting the other inmates to find a way to complete the reassignment surgery with a rusty shank and not a lot of anaesthesia and i simply cannot see how Sturgeon can fail to see that.

I doubt that - the response from the public to the idea and the subsequent fall in political supporter would suggest that no politician is going to want to open up this dogs dinner for many years.

Well done to all of them. The UK is better together........Great to see the celebrations going on in the fresh air. Meanwhile the SNP rent a mob are drowning their sorrows in the pub.
Sturgeon quits: Hundreds of unionists take to streets in Glasgow and celebrate with bottles of champagne shouting 'conga conga conga, Nicola's no longer' Around 250 unionist supporters took to George Square in Glasgow yesterday

When we look at banners at football matches, the revolting reaction to JK Rowling's opinions and the absolute nasty rubbish on social media and forums like this we can only hope that Scotland is entering a new period of peace and quiet.
In addition to her personal behaviour, of which we will learn more as the Police investigations proceed, Sturgeon as been responsible for turning Scotland into a very nasty place, Channel 4 might pretend she was well respected and so on, but the picture above says it all.
Who will her successor be I wonder, Kate Forbes name is cropping up, she was educated at Cambridge, so at least she has been outside Scotland and has recieved a decent education, (unlike Sturgeon on both counts), she is a practising Christian so all the transvestite and paedophile garbage being pushed by Sturgeon will be binned. But, she was the finance Minister when the £600,000 went missing, and also the millions sent up by Westminster for business help during covid that wasn't passed on, so is she very careless or part of the Sturgeon crime syndicate, we shall see.

There is a lot of pressure on Khan at the moment, as seen with Sturgeon, these despot nut cases seem to be untouchable, but suddenly they are no more, Jacuzzi Hardon took the stage babbling her woke shyte and was slung out last week, this week Sturgeon, next week it will be Khan. The BBC, Channel 4 and the Guardian will be in tears at it all. Jolly good.

I don't think she will have stepped down over one issue yet a couple.
A major one is the independence path and how much the costs will hurt the population who have only been given the upside. I expect they have done the numbers and spoken with the EU and she thinks it would be political suicide.
Then Salmond or his acolytes sniping from the sidelines via Alba and scoring points over the LGBT excesses.
The approach if it from her successor might give us a clue one way or the other.
