Nicola Sturgeon’s resignation is ‘Scotland’s real independence day’ Story by Tara Thorpe, Telegraph Readers • 2h ago Wee krankie has formally announced her resignation as the Scottish mayor after more than eight years in the role, saying the “brutality” of modern politics had taken its toll. Wee krankie said she had told the Scottish National Party to begin the process of electing a new party leader and that she would “remain in office until my successor is elected”. Telegraph readers rejoiced at the news, with many agreeing that she brought division across the country with her staunch pro-independence agenda and controversial trans laws. Others look to the future in the hope that harmony can now be restored across the UK. link

This is what the Telegraph has to say, it is what everyone outside Scotland has thought for several years now, the lies, the incompetence, the dishonesty, the hostility, the arrogance, the aggression and the deceit, all for nothing, she was rubbish.
I was right and the now silent Nats on here were wrong.
But what finally did for Sturgeon was surely the realisation that her dream of Scottish independence was going nowhere. Briefly, at the end of last year, at the height of the Conservative government’s trouble, it seemed as if the polls might finally have shifted in favour of Scottish independence. Come the new year, and normality was restored: a poll this week showed Scots to be against independence by a margin of 56 percent to 44 percent – almost exactly the same result as the 2014 referendum, the SNP’s failure to win which brought Sturgeon to power in the first place.
All that politicking, all that trying to drive a wedge between Holyrood and Westminster, all the games with the Supreme Court over her second referendum, all the efforts to use Brexit to try to drive the case for a breakaway Scotland: all have come to nothing. She is back where she began, leading an SNP which is deeply-frustrated with the voting public. No wonder she decided that she had had enough. She might have thought of herself as a political rock star to rival Jacinda Ardern. But the end result was more Spinal Tap than Rolling Stones.

After her latest efforts at victimising her own electorate the chance of her getting a majority for independence would be nil anyway, but her policies won't be reversed I very much doubt so the Scots will have to like it and lump it. But they can always get behind somebody else from the SNP feeding them a line.

The usual suspects have gone very quiet. Give them time. Thomas is searching through his meme store. Probably licking his wounds as we turned out right and the Scottish followers of fashion were wrong, no finger on the pulse I guess, but driven by nothing more than belief that everyone else will take what they are given as well.

She promised her country independence. It was all hot air. She's certainly been a strong leader, tenacious and a real character. Everyone would recognise her, but she could not deliver.

This is Allister Heath writing this afternoon, sums up what we have been reflecting on for some time, also when there is such a quick departure following the announcement of a police investigation things get inteesting,
Bye-bye, Nicola Sturgeon: your absurd, dystopian vision for Scotland won’t be missed. The First Minister's quest to turn her country into the wokest nation in Europe is over, as may be her dream of breaking up the United Kingdom.
Under the Scottish Nationalist Party’s egregious misrule, Scotland was gradually becoming a failed state, but it was her quasi-religious conversion to the most extreme form of gender ideology that brought her down.
Defying public opinion, common sense and reality, Sturgeon wanted 16-year-olds to be able to change the sex on their birth certificate without a medical diagnosis. This meant, among much other madness, that rapists who declared themselves to be women could be housed in female prisons. This was supposed to be 'progress', but in just a few weeks it had culminated in her extraordinary resignation.

About fucking time!! She's fucking crap. Say what you feel, Vinny. Thomas will be along soon with some poll results saying how popular she is. Dont bring me into it black. If you want to gloat about sturgeon , gloat.
You know fine well from our old forum both moray and i talked about our misgivings regarding her many decisions , and of course the division she enabled in the yes movement from just before the alec salmond stitch up.
Shes gone now for better or worse , and we see what happens from here.
Stuart campbell at wings seems to have called this long before anyone else , including the fact he knew before many snp politicians and members.
The conspiracy theories are flying around at the moment on why she chose now , but wings is claiming its due to police scotland investigating the missing £600 k , others like craig murray claiming she was a brit stooge who has now been cast aside.
I think its best to wait till the dust settles.

I was right and the now silent Nats on here were wrong. No you werent right. We have known since around 2017 or thereabouts something wasnt quite right. The missed goals , golden opportunities and much else im not prepared to go into.
Whatever my misgivings and that of others , i dont think it of any sense sitting slagging her off .
Dont gloat too hard though om. Remember , we have been here before for those who dont have yours and vinnys goldfish like memory. Remember 2014 , the indy ref loss , salmond resigning while i was being told on forums like this thats it jocks back in your boxes?
Remember om , we only need to score one goal. You need to defend that goal each and every time......
