Interesting point made tonight - has there ever been a politician in charge, for so long, that has such a threadbare list of achievements?. Has she left Scotland a better place than she found it? Well it isn't run by Alex Salmond

Education, health, welfare, potholes, business support, ferries, becoming a laughing stock over woke, being the most ridiculous voice of devolution and completely destroying any chance of independence isn't better than anything. If you elect Gary Glitter as FM it can't be worse. Nigel Farage has just said on his GB News programme that Sturgeon is the most unpleasant person he has ever met. Edited to add;- Mr Trump has issued a statement saying "goodbye to woke rubbish." An international viewpoint. Nicola Sturgeon has more dignity in her little finger than Farage and Trump put together. On a list of the world’s most eloquent leaders compiled by professional development coaches from the Development Academy wing of Acuity Training, who reviewed more than 100 hours of footage from press conferences, speeches and other public addresses throughout 2020 and named former US President Barack Obama as the most effective communicator of the last decade, Nicola Sturgeon was judged fifth. The experts who drew up the list described her as “clear, calm and compassionate.” They said”: “She has a measured and authoritative sincerity about her – she is kind and compassionate, without shying away from tough issues…Nicola Sturgeon has received a lot of praise for her response to the coronavirus pandemic – and it’s not hard to see why. She is clear, calm and compassionate, is not afraid to be tough or emotional, and she has a great sense of humour. There’s no sense of performance with Sturgeon – she is very real.” “They described Prime Minister Boris Johnson as a “very unique public speaker”, saying: “Unlike many of his colleagues, the former foreign secretary and mayor of London has had a tendency to forgo pauses in favour of muttering or waffling, and his use of odd or obscure references often left people confused about his message.” www.scotsman.com/news/politics/nicola-sturgeon-makes-top-five-list-worlds-most-eloquent-leaders-2928507www.thetimes.co.uk/article/praise-for-eloquent-nicola-sturgeon-59fzt8pt7www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/politics/nicola-sturgeon-eloquent-leader-full-list-world-boris-johnson-a9646021.html

Has Jacinda Ardern, NZ PM, set a trend — will political leaders realise for themselves that they “no longer had enough in the tank” to do the job?
Admittedly it's unsettling — and it's resulted in chaos in the UK since 2016 — but slipping a new PM into post can be as easy as changing socks...

I absolutely agree with you there Mr President.........I love the Donald... always not one to mince words.......I totally agree with you Donald, Scotland and the whole of the UK will be better off when she has gone. Trump brands Nicola Sturgeon 'failed woke extremist' following her resignation: Ex-President blames First Minister for golf course failures and says she 'symbolizes everything wrong with identity politics' Trump criticised Sturgeon's gender reform bill and branded her a 'crazed leftist' He also blamed her for the £15.4M reported losses at his Scottish golf courses Sturgeon resigned as Scotland's First Minister after several political setbacks www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11755713/Trump-dances-Sturgeons-political-grave-insists-Scotland-better-without-her.html

Last night my Corbyn supporting drinking pal insisted that what Sturgeon has done on the subject of gender identity is mire than Sunak, or, regrettably, Starmer has. I can’t see it myself, but then, i wonder if he saw the press interview i did where she could barely string ten words together on the issue without appearing to contradict herself and having to backtrack and start again. An interview i would say shows the utter opposite of eloquence, suggesting whichever barking mad loons came up with this as idea she had it need their funding questioned.

Wee krankie dodges question over 'missing' £600,000 campaigning funds: Departing mayor of Scotland refuses to say if she has been quizzed by police amid probe into SNP finances Sum was supposed to be ‘ringfenced’ to be spent on independence campaigns Questions were raised when SNP had less than £100,000 two years later Wee krankie yesterday refused to reveal whether she has been interviewed by police amid a probe into her party’s finances. The departing mayor of Scotland dodged a question at the close of her resignation press conference over an inquiry into more than £600,000 which has gone ‘missing’ from the Scottish National Party’s coffers. The huge sum – raised by independence campaigners in 2017 – was supposed to be ‘ringfenced’ to be spent on independence campaigns. Wee krankies husband Peter Murrell (pictured) is chief executive of the SNP and is ultimately responsible for its accounts

Wee krankie’s husband urged to step aside as SNP chief executive amid ‘missing’ £600,000 Peter Murrell, the party’s chief executive officer, is planning to stay in his role during the election of his wife’s successor. However, one of the SNP’s own MPs at Westminster called on Mr Murrell to step aside on Wednesday and called for a “neutral caretaker CEO” to take his place.

I dont always have the time to counter your vacuous drivel on this site , but by christ you do outdo yourself as the post count mounts.
Education.......
Its that bad that eurostat has said scotland has the best educated population in europe. Smaller class sizes than england , better schools , the english royalty and nobility sending kids to scotlands universties etc.
Health. The scottish government has been making tremendous inroads regarding health over 15 years after scotland was ruled by labour party on behalf of london for most of the last century or thereabouts . Labour had glasgow with the worst health in western europe , and many of the drug addictions were people who grew up addicted to drugs under labours inglorious rule on behalf of the union.
Despite that scotland nhs regualrly over the last decade or so has outperformed the rest of the yookay , with tory run england and labour run wales being particularly bad.
Scotland’s NHS outperforms the rest of the UK – here’s why
Welfare.
The scottish government are spending millions mitigating welfare restrictions like the bedroom tax imposed by your tory government in london. Currently we have a higher employment rate than in your country ..
potholes.
Scotland has a harsher climate than england , and of course the weather greatly affects roads .
BRITAIN'S most potholed roads have been revealed, with the damage costing councils around £120million per year.
Northumberland and Cornwall topped the list, while the majority of the damage was found to be in the North.
s for nigel farage voicing his displeasure about strugeon? Is this a serious comment? A guy who was chased into an edinburgh pub by spotty teenagers , whose party couldnt manage to gain any support in scotland over twenty years or more , who lost the 2016 brexit ref in scotland he and his brexiter ilk are that much despised , is the now the go to platform for judging sturgeon?
I tell you om , its hard keepin up with the vacuous drivel that passes for your posts.
Trump?
Obviously sturgeon upset all the right people .

Liz Truss had it right about Nicola Sturgeon, but she could have put it more politely. to be fair , if anyone is trying to tarnish sturgeon in the eyes of the scottish electorate , i dont think dizzie lizzie is the person to use.

Today the Scots have expressed their views (or vacuous drivel as Tommo calls it).
‘With her single-minded focus on independence, she allowed everything else to fall apart’
Heather Sharp: “Inevitable and expected. What took the nasty piece of work so long.
“She's reduced Scotland - a wonderful country with many wonderful people - to a viperish cesspit of divisiveness and hatred, especially for the English. Her stupid postering over trans issues finally did for her.”
L James: “Hallelujah. The most divisive, incompetent, recklessly divisive excuse for a politician ever. This is Scotland's real independence day.”
Robert Davies: “The irony in this. She joins the extreme-Left woke and virtue signalling brigade, who try to cancel anyone who has a different opinion to their damaging ideology - and gets cancelled herself for making the same mistakes these lefties make.
“She either forgot or more likely chose to ignore that the silent vast majority, of which her votes depend, are the ones who she needs to listen to.”
Piggy Malone: “May I be the first to offer my congratulations to Rishi Sunak for his brave and wise decision to face down Sturgeon over the GRR madness. Result!”
S Thomas: “This cynical, manipulative politician tried to weaponise the trans debate and hit Westminster over the head with it to advance her pro-independence agenda. She was quite happy to throw vulnerable women under the bus in the process. I am delighted by her downfall.”
Mrs P L Watson: “She was an utter disaster for my country. With her single-minded focus on independence, she allowed everything else to fall apart. This last fiasco, pandering to a tiny minority whilst ignoring the rights of half the population, was the final straw. Goodbye and good riddance.”
Mike Re: “This is the reason we left the EU. In the UK, when politicians no longer have the support of the people, they either resign or get voted out. This just does not happen in the EU - Ursula von der Leyen can completely ignore the will of the people she's president of.”
“A resignation done prior to an election knowing full well you are about to get a drubbing in the polls. A cowardly way to leave knowing the person following you will get the brunt of the public’s wrath when it's you that deserve every bit of it for being utterly rubbish at the job you once held.
“Cult followers will be crying in the cornflakes but the rest of the normal people in Scotland will be rejoicing in the hope the SNP is about to implode and we may get a bunch of politicians that are willing to work for the nation rather than for personal gain and fantasy dreams.”
Stephen Dick: "The Nationalist movement is split down the middle now. Take a look at the likely successors. With the possible exception of Joanna Cherry, they are the most talentless and disappointing bunch. The SNP are heading straight for a precipitous fall from grace, like the Labour Party in Scotland did 15-years ago. Holyrood is the most delinquent parliament in Europe by a country mile. I have been dealing with them for the past years and so I know what I am talking about.
"Close it, please. You may find that Scots will support that. It embarrasses all of us."
Simon Brady: “Great news for the people of Scotland.
“This is a real chance for a fresh start. To fully maximise Scotland’s potential within the UK.”
David Sewell: "Now Scotland can dare to hope again that they get a leader who concentrates on health, education, policing and reducing drug related deaths rather than seeking only to chase one goal which is not even under their own control."
Atticus tou Vorra: "Sturgeon may have been a deluded tyrant, but she was also an effective political performer. When you're whole aim is to sell a sow's ear as a silk purse, you need such skills. None of her possible replacements have that, which is good news for the people of Scotland."
Louise Lawrence: “It's noticeable that even her admirers can only claim that she led the SNP to many election victories - but noone can claim she did anything to improve Scotland or the lives of its residents.”
Gordon Wilson: "I don't normally post, but for this I gladly make an exception. Good riddance to a toxic individual who has polarised the nation and who bears responsibility for abject failure across the board - the whole devolved spectrum from health, education, crime and even basic social cohesion is worse now in Scotland due to her policies and approach to governance. This truly is Scotland's independence day and I wish those well who will have to pick up and deal with her mess."
Cameron Gow: "A toxic individual who has never been able to comprehend that you don't have to hate England to love Scotland."
Jim Lewin: "Nicola Sturgeon was one of the West’s most authoritarian leaders, an enemy of free speech and someone who had no qualms about turning her country into a temporary dictatorship during the pandemic. Thank God she’s going. Let’s hope all the other Western leaders who have made the same mistakes over the last three years follow her lead and resign before they’re rejected by their electorates, starting with Justin Trudeau."
Peter Lee: "I can't think of a more divisive politician in the UK. She never wasted an opportunity to aggrandise herself and her pet projects and to stimulate divisions between the Scots and the rest of the UK. She seems to approach every debate like a pugilist. And now, finally, she complains about the brutality of politics of which she was a principal exponent. Nothing personal Nicola, but I politely say I am glad to see you go."

Zeno the Stoic: “I’m not sure why Westminster is surprised she’s leaving. I could see this coming from a mile off.
“My only concern is who’s coming next. I fervently wished for Salmond’s demise only to be horrified when his replacement turned out to be far worse. Let’s hope that the same doesn’t happen again. Scotland deserves better than its last two leaders.
“Alternatively, let’s just reverse devolution. It’s been an unmitigated disaster for Scotland, Wales and London, all of whom have been taken over by tinpot dictator types who’s only ambition is to sock it to the evil English.”
Nic Williams: "I don’t actually care who comes in now, in all honesty. I’m Scottish, but none of the SNP support me or my values. I like being in the Union. I care not a jot about trans issues; I want more nuclear power stations, more North Sea oil drilled and fracking; I want to see more of rural Scotland turned into training grounds for the British army and I want to see more Union Jacks next to the Saltire."
Nigel Wheatcroft: "The trans mess, followed by the policing mess, the education mess, the finances mess, the drugs mess, the drinking mess and, of course, the ferries mess - someone will love having to sort all that out."
Martin Watkins: “She's had enough: The feeling is entirely mutual.
“I don't know the woman, I don't know much about Scotland, but she seems to be someone filled with hate and determined to wreck anything with which she disagrees.
“I hope she is replaced with someone who is prepared to work to repair bridges so that some harmony can be restored.”

Interesting point made tonight - has there ever been a politician in charge, for so long, that has such a threadbare list of achievements?. Has she left Scotland a better place than she found it? I agree with alec salmond on sturgeon. Her greatest trait as a politician was as a communicator , as we see every week where she regularly rag dolls clowns like dougie ross and anas sarwar in holyrood , or for example her performances during covid .
Her election wins are also pretty impressive , set against the backstop of the uk state being against her and all the media.
No i dont think she has left scotland a better place than she found it under salmond. Scotland isnt worse either , but in political terms , she failed to advance the independence cause , despite the massive open goal like brexit , and of course her identity politics , as well as the infamous attempted stitch up of alec salmond and jailing of bloggers like craig murray , among much else caused a lot of division in the yes movement.
The question for you is do scots want rid of devolution and the scottish parliament?
i mean on every level i have seen , majority in scotland not only back the scottish parliament , with only on average 8 % wanting rid of it , but they want more powers for scotland...
