This is Allister Heath writing this afternoon, sums up what we have been reflecting on for some time, also when there is such a quick departure following the announcement of a police investigation things get inteesting, Bye-bye, Nicola Sturgeon: your absurd, dystopian vision for Scotland won’t be missed. The First Minister's quest to turn her country into the wokest nation in Europe is over, as may be her dream of breaking up the United Kingdom.
Under the Scottish Nationalist Party’s egregious misrule, Scotland was gradually becoming a failed state, but it was her quasi-religious conversion to the most extreme form of gender ideology that brought her down.
Defying public opinion, common sense and reality, Sturgeon wanted 16-year-olds to be able to change the sex on their birth certificate without a medical diagnosis. This meant, among much other madness, that rapists who declared themselves to be women could be housed in female prisons. This was supposed to be 'progress', but in just a few weeks it had culminated in her extraordinary resignation.she didnt resign over the gender bill. Hopefully we will find out why she has resigned all of a sudden , so much so her small inner circle and clique knew nothing about it we are being told. im reading though it wasnt the grr bill.
I will remind you of all your comments and others on here when starmer and labour get in and start bringing in the english gender reform bill in around 16 months time.
What goes around om and all that....

I will also feel sorry for the people of the yookay living under that mans government.
We see the ghouls from new labour are rising from their crypts to stand at the next election in scotland. Wee dougie alexander , former new labour minister and my old mp , is now running for a seat in east lothian.
So it looks like the roads getting prepped in hope new labour under starmer sweep all aside , revers brexit and stop the snp . As i said , the establishment seem to be getting behind starmer to slow down and go back to managing decline in a comfortable fashion.

Rather than doom and gloom , there seems to be a lot of glee at sturgeon resigning. Interesting to see what happens.

I suspect that she felt she was not going to win with Indyref2 so, she jumped before being pushed
Let us hope that the battle for succession will be long and bloody and fun. God knows Silly Sunak isn't doing anything interesting. Let us hope that the battle for succession will be long and bloody and fun. It is not as though Silly Sunak is doing anything interesting

Wings has been attacking sturgeon in a fury for years , and certainly seems to have info on her from contacts as well as posting many scoops about her on his blog.
He called the resignation.
Hopefully the party will now have a clear out of the identity politics nutjobs , and sturgeons clique.

That's what the PIRA used to say, didn't get them very far.
A Police investigation into corruption, theft, misappropriation, and not recalling things is why she resigned all of a sudden.
I know that you must be gutted, but look on the bright side, you might now get a (labour) FM who will fill in your pot holes, happy motoring.
You won't be rubbing my nose in anything, I can promise you that.

That's what the PIRA used to say, didn't get them very far. no they didnt. Its a paraphrase i made up.
Ireland is independent , and northern ireland is out brexit uk and in the eu. You do talk some guff at time om.
However the paraphrase is true in "political terms " nonetheless. You will be defending the union every single election till the final thread snaps.
Every election , you will be on your seat wondering whats happening , another nat victory , or a pyrrhic unionist victory for a few more years till the next vote.
the point is , its unsustainable , when 50 % of the population want out , there hasnt been a country yet the empire has held onto.
We have known about the alleged theft courtesy of wings for years. You only found out recently , but now you can tell us because you read it in the daily rag whats what and why she resigned.?
This from a guy who thinks hadrians wall is in scotland?
im not gutted. As black is white could tell you and morayloon , i have had my criticism of her for years. As well as deep misgivings.
The correct word is apprehensive on who replaces her. If we get a muppet like somerville , we might as well turn the lights out .
...and you might get a new labour prime minister who takes you back in th EU and gives you an english grr bill. We can then compare notes and see whose worse off...
oh i think i will.

Not on here you haven't. I have, and I was right, so it is no use you attempting to distance yourself from her, you have been a vocal Sturgeon/Independence/SNP voice and to pretend otherwise fools no one.

Dearie me.
Hence why i mentioned members of another defunct forum .
Im not distancing myself from anyone. I defended her on here against you and others. Despite my misgivings , about her wasted legacy , she is still one of us .
Sorry to break it to you om , but dry your eyes mate , theres loads of cheering in scotland the night among both nationlists and unionists. Like i said knowing yours and vinnys luck , michael collins and eamon de valera will take over.

Sturgeon/Independence/SNP voice i still am an independence supporter.
I have been since the eighties.
Once you escape out of the big bad daily mail world of brexiter la la land , does it surprise you there is more than one indy party in scotland, and differeing factions with differing views outside of the scottish robots pre programmed by the sturgeon bot you and vinny seem to believe all scots are?
Is that what you thought om ? Take the sturgeon bot out , and the jocks all go back to sleep again?
Christ the world is too complicated for you and english intellectuals like vinny isnt it om?

I'm shocked by the news of Sturgeon's resignation today. Though she wasn't perfect - who is? -, I thought she did a better job for Scotland in the past eight years than five PMs have done for the UK. I just hope her replacement isn't Kate Forbes, who is perhaps a bit too young and a bit too conservative. I wish it could be Joanna Cherry.

Education, health, welfare, potholes, business support, ferries, becoming a laughing stock over woke, being the most ridiculous voice of devolution and completely destroying any chance of independence isn't better than anything.
If you elect Gary Glitter as FM it can't be worse. Nigel Farage has just said on his GB News programme that Sturgeon is the most unpleasant person he has ever met.
Edited to add;- Mr Trump has issued a statement saying "goodbye to woke rubbish." An international viewpoint.

Liz Truss had it right about Nicola Sturgeon, but she could have put it more politely.

Interesting point made tonight - has there ever been a politician in charge, for so long, that has such a threadbare list of achievements?.
Has she left Scotland a better place than she found it?
