Energy prices are artificially high due to all the green subsidies - with regards to gas, if we used our own then it would be much cheaper than importing from overseas. But unfortunately the green lobby think its more environmentally friendly to import energy rather than use our own.. Erm no, we export it when it is cheap because we have no storage and buy it back in the winter when commodity brokers are making a killing. So in actual fact it is our gas in the first place. Except we would have missed out the middle man by storing it. So that either that makes those in charge crooks or not very bright. Ooh take a guess

Indeed. A closer analogy would be standing on a rubbish dump while dropping small amounts of litter and hoping that by stopping you could wish the whole rubbish dump away.
It's a nonsense.
No amount of harmful pollution is acceptable. You are arguing that it's OK to piss in the swimming pool because everyone else does it. Your standard is idealistic and infeasible presently. We can collapse our society killing many millions of people and consigning many more to 'no shoes on feet' type poverty or we can significantly ignore your idealistic demands.

Don't forget to self flagellate daily for having the audacity to invent the modern world. I couldn't be more proud of our inventive history. Its only nowadays that people like you pour scorn on that inventiveness. We have discussed this before. There is a big difference between providing a new technology everyone wants and forcing everyone to accept something that is downgrade on what they have. The first is called inventiveness and the second is more of the nature of a scam

When you force people to choose between heat and eat, then they should be doing it in their own name, certainly not mine.

No need to piss in the swimming pool, the water companies have that in hand with effluent piling up in rives and coastal waters.

Who says we have to collapse our society? You're just pedalling a form of project fear. What we have to do is change our society. Society isn't going to collapse because we use energy more efficiently or phase out single use plastics etc. Many environmentally sound policies actually improve society such as cleaner air in our cities and improved public transport.

What we have to do is change our society. That is funny. After society has 'changed' how do you propose to provide footwear to the small number of survivors - without polluting? Hand crafted clogs, hewn from fallen branches?

The planet isn't a rubbish tip though, no matter how much the Mammon worshipping polluters want it to be. No amount of harmful pollution is acceptable. You are arguing that it's OK to piss in the swimming pool because everyone else does it... Nope, I'm saying that you're worrying about someone dropping a fag butt while your neighbour is flytipping an entire skipload into the same street. It's about benefit vs cost - something that we all weigh up in every part of our daily lives.

Can you explain why net zero is a flawed concept? It's not achievable unless you want to switch back to energy usage to what it was at...the 1900s or something like that.... I mean that is also if you assume that world's climate is solely governed by a one size fits all greenhouse effect climate model? Which it isn't. So I guess for me it fails on two fronts as CO2 has such a small influence on climate its within the margin of error.
I mean governments are pay lip service to it... as its worth a good amount of tax to them so it makes for good political strategy to maintain the narrative. Oh I see. No data or calcs, just your opinion and some rubbish about the climate model.

It's like arguing that my neighbour beats his wife every day so it's alright for me to beat mine once a month. All it's really about is finding excuses not to change their lifestyles.

I changed mine when I saw this coming from a country mile away, I fitted a DEFRA approved log burner and saved a fortune as well as stopping my direct debits so energy company's couldn't add me to the billions they are holding of others money. While of course fitting everyone up with a pay as you go meter so you pay more in the long run, I also have a stand by camper completely off grid.

Yes, in the same way that you've closed your business in order to reduce your carbon footprint.
You have closed your business, yes?
And of course you won't be replying because you'll have turned off your computer for the same reason.
And your heating...

Give up the weed then, Monte.
Have you seen how much leccy they use to grow that shit? And they usually bypass the meter so they (you) aren't paying.

Because if you didn't see this coming when politicians voted for it almost unanimously you must be getting all you deserve.
