Pensioners are not loathed. Its the ungrateful attitude so many of you display towards the working schmucks whose taxes support you that is loathed. So many of you - and you yourself are typical - begrudge working people the scrapings of your arses, yet think their hard work and taxes should provide a bottomless pit for yourselves. It is this attitude that manages to combine selfishness and ingratitude with mean-spiritedness towards everyone else that is loathed. Thankfully though not all pensioners think like you. I tend to love and respect the ones that don't. Like my dear mum who would hold most of you oldies on this forum in utter contempt for your attitudes. Pillock, I am not an old age pensioner, and I have never claimed one thin penny in benefits of any kind. I was able to take early retirement because I worked long hard hours and paid a lot into a good pension. My wife and I live comfortably, we're not rich, but we're OK, and I do more to help people than you will ever know. Your opinions are ill informed and ignorant. Give Sid a break.
He has another ten years before he can claim the state pension and come 2033 he will wake up, turn on his Co-op radio and discover that the Chancellor has raised the pension age to 80 or some such.

That is always the lame old justification beloved of the better off wishing to keep their own taxpayer-funded handouts. And probably nonsense. Why do yo suppose pensioners in this country are so loathed compared to pensioners in many other countries who are almost revered. A fact reflected by old age pensions which are much higher in most European countries. Because there is more self loathing lefties in the UK like this joker.

It would seem pensioners are an easy target for Millennials & gen Z types who think university is a right of passage regardless of ability, and life owes them a living.

Well I am a pensioner but ditto to the rest of your post. I can guarantee I have worked harder than srb ever thinks he could. I remeber back in the early seventies when someone accusaed me of earning loads of money as a builder citing £2 an hour as extortionate. I told him he wouldn't even be out in the cold and wet, let alone working tor that sort of money; no hoists, just monkeying up a 40 foot pole ladder with a half hundredweight of bricks on your shoulder.

You'll still of course claim your taxpayer funded state pension and taxpayer funded winter fuel payments when the time comes whilst still moaning about any support for the working people whose taxes are paying for it no doubt

The arrogance of that statement screams out. How can you possibly "guarantee" that you have worked harder than I ever have without access to my work history? I too have worked in the construction industry, which at times included 15 or 16 hours days when there was a rush job on, and even the occasional all nighter when we worked for more than 20 hours. And I would go months without a day off. And I have also worked for a grounds maintenance company that mandated 70 hour weeks from April to October. Those were the days before the working time directive. So you can shove your arrogant guarantees up your arse.

Just another scrounging pensioner out for all you can get paid for by working people like me, whilst you at the same time begrudge us anything at all, always labouring under the delusion that you had it so much harder and life is easy for working people today. Again, bollocks.

We can always rely on Jokesy talking shite. I was a steelfixers labourer actually. The money for such work was still very good back in those days but you had to work hard for it. I doubt you would have lasted five minutes. The only hardworking thing about you is your gob. Pity your brain doesn't work quite so hard
