I already knew as I'm interested in the subject. So you would know then that EV production is lower than the forcast target because nobody wants the fucking things.

The waiting time for an electric car is 14 months due to the lact of chips. Its the reason I bought a PHEV instead. I take it that like all the other chickens on here you are not going to admit you were wrong about 12million tons of EV batteries being dumped and apologise.

I have not made that up and have provided the links to prove the FACT...And as for your PHEV they are going to phased out the same time as IC's. And I have supplied the links to where these batteries are being dumped so take that up with those who drafted the reports. Why should I apolgise for posting links that others have drafted?

I've seen no links, was it at the same time you linked the 12million tons of EV batteries being scrapped? That turned out to be 12million tons of EV batteries might be scrapped in the future if we don't re-use or recycle them. 🤣 You should apologise because you got it wrong and then insisted it was right, that would be the decent honest thing to do. New PHEV's will be phased out 5 years after ICE vehicles, by then my PHEV will be 12 years old and will be someone else's PHEV.

I even linked to the relavant google search page. Its bugger all to do with the IC shortage people do not want EV's period...tell me oh wise one if EV's are so bloody good why are they not selling on their own merit rather than being forced onto people who do not want the frigging things.

Might be easier for you to re-post the link, and a search page is not a link. I searched "Electric cars not selling" I got this www.forbes.com/sites/alanohnsman/2022/12/22/were-not-there-yet-the-booming-electric-car-market-still-has-a-long-road-ahead-of-it/?sh=7f095645168a"Electric vehicle sales are at an all-time high and should reach 1 million units in 2023, but will remain de facto luxury purchases owing to high battery costs. Car buyers also remain concerned about charging infrastructure."

I did answer this, I always try and answer if I can. I said Q:How are you going to connect the electricity from your terraced house A: Either with a boom over the pavement or a cable cover on the pavement Q: How much energy will that require? A: how much energy will what require? Do you mean to install a boom or do you mean to charge the car? I have never ignored it. See how its done Jonsky? No dodging or claiming this or that, just pleasant answers.

I am fed up with answering the same questions over and over again like a stuck record.
So here is my list of the most common answers I have to repeat.
Please bear in mind that I am not the oracle (Cue the mocking) so these are my answers to the best of my knowledge from what I have read over the past 5 years.
(I will add to it as more questions arise.)
Q:If EV’s are so popular how come the government has to force them on us.
A: The government needed to accelerate the process of switching to electric cars because of climate change due to the amount of Co2 in the atmosphere.
However once the obstacles of reliability and range were solved EV sales rocketed, limited only by shortage of parts.
Initial cost is still an issue, but simple maths shows that running costs soon mitigate purchase cost.
Q: How are we going to charge electric cars for people in terrace streets/ blocks of flats
A: By allocating parking spaces to each home owner and connecting by overhead boom or covered pavement strip
A2: By installing more charging points at regular destinations (Work, Supermarket, Garden centre etc.
Q: What are we going to do with all the old batteries
A: Most will be put to new uses, backup home storage, farms, etc. Some will be recycled and development in this area is coming on a pace. We have at least 7 years to work this out.
On many later EV’s it is now possible to replace individual cells as they fail. Battery life is increasing each year due to better management systems and components.
Q: Where is all the extra electricity going to come from?
A: This requires a very complex answer.
It depends on
1, what the extra demand is.
2, What further reductions in demand technology (such as LED lights) will bring.
3, What systems are adopted for smart use of energy (Telling your washing machine when to run, drawing back power from your car battery, charging your car in low demand periods etc)

EV's are not the be all and end all of the motoring market and never ever will be. We are still waiting to for you to respond over what people who live in hi-rises can do to charge their sewing machined engine non entities.

These would need to be armoured so fairly bulky. And very costly. And who will install them and reel them when not in use. out when they are required. And there there is the energy your terraced house uses about 8 kWh per day. Your EV would likely double that. I don't think you have thought this thing out.

Totally impractical and no sense of how most of the country lives. So hoping for the best...

Any solution to the above hitches Zany suggests is likely to involve the UK taking on a gigantic, un-repayable loan so the UK people lose all democratic autonomy.
Joined up policy.
