If EV's were better then the market would ensure that they replaced ICE cars and therefore cut CO2 emissions - but we all know that people will not willingly buy them so they need to be coerced by legislation. There is no coercion at the moment, yet still they buy them. 267,000 in 2022 and growing. You can still buy a gas guzzler if you want one. But stop pretending the situation is static, EV's are getting better every year and every year to arguments against them get knocked back. I heat my home with them and they are brilliant. We don't have hot and cold spots. The temperature is a constant 22 degrees everywhere and they cost about the same to run as gas central heating. As ever you are behind the curve. However these are also improving, mine doesn't heat my water, but the new ones will. I'm sure some old men said the same when they banned coal fires in London. But sometimes progress is making the planet better rather than your personal life. Not being rude. When was your house built?

Not being rude. When was your house built? About 1980 You will be OK......Its modern builds that are having the problems with airtight rooms etc...They have had to lower the standards to prevent internal cracking of walls and timber warpage and to prevent mould forming on iternal walls and ceilings.

The typical residential home uses about 10 kWh per day. How much will your EV add to that?

Do you mean because of heat pumps? Why are airtight rooms effected?

Not sure how much that will add to an electricity bill but you can bet your bottom dollar it won't be cheap.

What are you referring to? Gallon equivalent at the moment is about £2.50 for an EV, based on an average 40mpg

EDIT for a7KV it is around 1k, for a 35kv fast charger around 3k to 15k plus the extra of having 3 phase fed to your home..

A 7kw charges at about 30 miles per hour I do not know the ins and outs of charging capacities I can only give examples from this neck of the woods. A few years back a friend of mine who has a carpentry workshop wanted to have a 3 phase supply run to his works shop which has a single phase supply was quoted £11k by SWEB....He is in a rural area half way between Kingswear and Brixham so he now just soldiers on with the less powerfull machines he can run on single phase supply.
