Totally ignoring the Japanese takeover and the international meltdown in your deceitful attempt to undermine NL. "in a sign of things to come, Japanese company Nissan opened a factory near Sunderland, in the northeast of England, in 1986. French automaker Peugeot and Japanese giant Toyota also built or took over UK factories. Please explain how the 'Japanese takeover' was a bad thing. Was it a bad thing that Ford and General Motors expanded into the UK in the 1930's? It was the acceptance by the British government of the ending of much of our indigenous British engineering industries, add to that the destruction of thousands of smaller engineering companies and we can see the shop corner thinking of Thatcher i.e. more a case of buying and selling.

So you would have blocked Japanese car companies setting up in the UK? The UK only got Nissan to invest in Sunderland because Thatcher outbid the French - so under a see2 government you would have preferred that Nissan had gone to France.
