In doing so they have played right into her hands. It is exactly what she could have hoped for. I agree with you, but if people realize that was her ultimate goal, then they will see her for what she really is.
The transgenders will not be happy that she has 'used' their cause to gain support for a independent Scotland.
The transgenders are being used as political pawns in Sturgeons plot, I honestly believe she does not care about transgender or their rights, she's a opportunist and took the opportunity to exploit this group of people for her own political goals ... namely Scottish Independence.... Shame on that woman.
I think they are being used by the Tory government to fight their culture wars. Fact is, the government could have left well alone but have chosen to make an issue out of it. I very much doubt, as will most Scots, that Sturgeon foresaw this happening and planned it. This bill after all is far from her doing alone and had cross party support in Scotland, being 6 years in the making. No, the decision to hand this gift of an English parliament versus Scottish parliament issue to Sturgeon is the governments own, done for their own dubious populist culture war reasons.

Two thirds of the Scottish electorate disagree with the SNP's gender virtue signalling bullshit. The fact is, we Jimmy McSturgeon is desperate for support and is willing to beg to any minority.

Hi red rackham Do you know the way debate is supposed to work? The person you quoted told you that the issue had cross party support. You did not disprove that specific point. You ignored it and repeated an irrelevant point about the SNP and virtue signalling. And another one about the electorate. The points you make might be true but have nothing to do with what you were responding to. So, I'll repeat. The bill had cross party support. How do you respond to that? Specifically.

Hi, whatever your name is, do you understand that cross party support means very little when the majority of the electorate disagree with the proposal?

It is not Westminsters place to decide that for Scotland just because you don't like it. Do you live in Scotland? If not, what the Scots want to do is none of your fucking business. Keep your beak out of it.

It is not the place of the predominantly English parliament to champion the Scottish electorate. If that electorate disapproves of the law they can express that at the ballot box in the next Scottish elections if they so choose. Instead you are cheerleading handing Sturgeon the absolute gift of undermining devolution, which plays right into her hands. And makes you the obvious pillock from where I am standing.

It's pretty amazing that a Labour female Politician endorsing safe spaces for women is then barracked by Labour male politicians - I can remember when the Labour Party were at the forefront of womens rights.. How times change..

It's the UK Parliament. "By giving the celts 172 members in an assembly of 658, they will be impotent to operate in that assembly ,but it will be invested by celtic assent to its english authority".
Under secretary Edward Cooke , famously writing to prime minister William Pitt in 1799 about the construction and workings of the de facto English parliament at westmisnter .

It's the UK Parliament. A large majority of whose MPs represent English constituencies, hence predominantly English. Which is certainly how Scottish nationalists will see it. The Westminster parliament is creating a lot of potential anger and division between the English and Scots which can only play into the hands of the SNP, all to pursue its culture wars agenda even at the expense of the Union

Keep your beak out of it. And it is fuck all to do with Scotland what happens in Westminster. Why should those arseholes have a say in the HOC? Because they do not have full independence and some matters are decided in Westminster is the blatantly obvious answer. And what happens in Westminster very much is a matter for the Scots when Westminster seeks to overturn Scottish democracy.
