Stammer went on strike when he took over the Labour leadership. Labour opposes life-saving law to curb strikes: Stammer tries to scupper vital Tory bill as ambulance drivers walk out TODAY and people are told not to call 999 unless it's 'life or limb' Opposition MPs attack legislation designed to guarantee minimum safety levels The law would cover disputes like today’s walkout by ambulance drivers It comes as hospitals are ‘braced for another day of significant disruption' link

A week ago, one pensioner in the Northeast rang 999 because he was having a heart attack, the call centre told him that the ambulance would be "at least two hours", and so the man ordered a taxi.
When the taxi reached the A&E department, the man then waited 12 hours to be assessed, but this story is not an isolated story, these kinds of stories are happening every day.
My point is that the government has already made the NHS and our ambulance services dangerous and not only putting lives at risk, but very good evidence suggests that many people are dying unecessarily.
So no Tory supporter can come into this forum bleeting about how hard working NHS staff are putting lives at risk, because its the height of hypocrisy.
The right to withdraw labour as a form of protest is meant to cause inconvenience, if it did not cause inconvenience, then such protests would be meaningless and pointless.
The government ( any government ) has the right to expect "minimum service levels" to protect the public from danger or potential harm. But that does not include the railways or public transport, and it does not include postal workers.
Grant Shapps ant Risky Sunak have lined themselves up for a real fight, and they are going to lose

I don’t blame them for that but let’s not confuse the two. Waiting times do get mentioned in the narrative but the strikes essentially to aimed at a pay rise . I have said that the NHS unions were unwise to strike at the same time as the Rail unions and during the usual winter NHS crisis . They should of waited until Spring .

Exchanged a Christmas email with an old work friend, his wife went to Doc with stomach pains and came away with some antacids, two days later, after six hours in A&E, they realised her appendix had burst, Peritonitis and associated issues followed the 3.5 hour op and a week in hospital, where she also contracted covid. You would get better medical care living up a tree in the Belgian Congo. I bet he doesn't vote Tory at the next election

My point Bentley, is that the Hypocrits ( the Tories and their supporters ) are suggesting that ambulance workers, nurses and other NHS staff are putting lives at risk by striking.
The government have, and are continuing to put lives at risk by ignoring the problems facing the NHS, problems which were very evident long before the Pandemic.
ONS figures point to abnormal excess deaths, and at least some of that excess is due to the deplorable and deteriorating state of the NHS which has happened since 2010.

Can’t see that Starmer and/or the Labour Party have much responsibility for the current strike issues in the NHS or elsewhere, they’re not in government…

They are making a very bad situation even worse to gain a pay rise . There is no escaping that. They are not striking to improve the NHS .

Can’t see that Starmer and/or the Labour Party have much responsibility for the current strike issues in the NHS or elsewhere, they’re not in government… LOL Labour are bankrolled by the Unions.
Donations. The Conservative Party relies on donations mostly from individuals and companies; as well as these sources the Labour Party receives a significant portion of its donations from trade unions.
Unions covered both electoral expenses and maintenance payments, to fund the living costs of an MP. Those Labour MPs who did not receive union sponsorship were instead paid from the Parliamentary Fund of the Labour Party, which was raised in part from unions.
Labour took £1.5M in donations from trade union bosses as grip on party laid bare The Labour Party received £4.7million in total in donations in the last economic quarter, with £1.62million coming from unions.
^^ I could go on but I am sure you understand now why Starmer and Labour have responsibility for the current strikes, Labour were so outraged that Johnson had a sip of wine and the whiff of a birthday cake while people where dying of Covid ...... yet Starmer/Labour don't give a fuck that people are dying at the hands of the Unions who bankroll them .......Double standard hypocrisy .... AGAIN AND AGAIN.

So are significant proportions (possibly a majority) of the public. They are showing sympathy for many of the strikers — especially for NHS personnel. Much of this could have been avoided if politics and public life hadn’t become so antagonistic, confrontational and polarised over the past few years…

All these lefty idiots who support these commies would sing from a different hymn book mate if one of their family or friends perished due to the lazy commie bastards on strike

He is just another politician who wants to be PM and as long as the Brothers and Sisters keep us out of the EU, I don't give a wet fart in a high wind who occupies Number Ten

Then they take massive donations from the Unions who are holding the country to ransom, leaving people to die, then the thick heads blame the Tories.
Are people really so fuckin thick?

Much of this could have been avoided if politics and public life hadn’t become so antagonistic, confrontational and polarised over the past few years… Most of this could have been avoided if the government hadn't ignored independent pay reviews for a decade. Only if the government had kept up their end of the bargain would they have any moral basis to oppose strikes. Of course, the *DMTs will wail and gnash but they're ignorant of the facts, or simply being disingenuous. *Daily Mail Tories
