My consultant ordered a blood test from the hospital lab ... but they refused to do it. They said that the test is only done every three months. The last test was done a month ago. The "three month rule" only applies when patients' results are stable. My last test indicated a need for a change in my treatment ... which was done. The correct response is a further test after one month. I now have to wait two more months to see if the treatment has worked. My consultant is reluctant to challenge the labs directive. There has also been problems with the accuracy of the labs test results ... on a number of occasions I claimed that the results were obviously wrong and were repeated ... after I threatened to take legal action if they weren't. The retests proved me right. Some of the errors lead me to suspect that someone in the lab has poor eyesight. I once applied for a job in a hospital lab ... the guy who interviewed me said, in a meaningful voice: "We try not to kill too many patients". I decided not to take the job.

Well i am absolutely ducking stunned
Five weeks ago the pharmacist hired by my GP to check the drugs i am on are working rang to do the annual check. I mentioned i am losing weight. Like a stone and a half in a year. Which is good, i am overweight, but i am doing nothing to do this and indeed my exercise level is low
Panic buttons were pressed not least because of the team of molecular biologists i joined in 1979 i am the last man standing the others having died of nasty gut cancers.
Within a week the first round of blood tests were taken and no obvious problem found, more blood was taken a week later. Still no issue. A third round left me feeling i had a hancock empty arm and now the tests were for organ failure and major system shutdown
Tuesday saw a chat with a consultant, Tomorrow i’m in for a chest xray, friday i have the aneurysm scan saturday the eye test snd sunday a near full body CT scan
And in two weeks time they shove a hosepipe up my arse.
Im impressed. They never went this far before. Leaving all those cancer victims to die while they fosussed on chinese monkey flu must have stung to the quick …

I haven't had anything like as worrying in my background history, but I have lost a lot of weight in the last 12 months, so far I've put it down to my age.

I think after this morning the hosepipe guy is going to have a field day tomorrow. Im really not looking forward to whatever they find because it is clear something is not right. Ah well. Such is life. And death.

They found a couple of polyps and a tumour, all of which they removed and sent for analysis; all turned out to be benign and further tests have proved negative. Chin up, JoG on.

It is worrying whether you will be voting for the right party next general election and whether you are giving the correct advice on here.

Well yesterday was … interesting I went in there and told them straight i’ve been nailbombed, firebombed, shot at by the yanks, and twice woken up to see someone leaning over me wearing medical scrubs and a worried look and in all that time ive actually never been so &!&ing terrified as i was now, both of what they’re doing, and what they’ll find In fact they were amazing and i didn’t have the i/v sedation and didn’t need the entonox. My hypnotherapist is going to be quite pleased. They found two things that have to come out but could not do it there and then because i am taking warfarin and will need to synchronise my stopping taking it for at least a week with their doing a second, but less extensive, hosepiping. The good news is they went in looking for evidence of the tumours that killed off over half my fellow former researchers and did not see any evidence of such. So the weight loss must be my vodka, tonic and cheesecake diet.
