And yet the Protocol hasn't been implemented in full Tommy McRobinson. buccy , you are one of my favourite posters on this site. Your knowledge of football is almost as bad as your knowledge of politics.

That is what the Good Friday Agreement is expressly designed to do.. Im not sure that is true pacifico. . . . It was a deliberately positioned falsehood by Pacifico, very poor form

Are you having some sort of mental episode? I said in the previous post to this that there were barriers to trade - did you not read it or did you just fail to understand? No, you said there were no barriers to trade between the UK and the EU. Have you changed your mind? Link?

That is what the Good Friday Agreement is expressly designed to do.. Im not sure that is true pacifico. Of course it was - we had majority rule that the majority in NI were quite happy with. The GFA replaced majority rule where a minority had a veto. The democratic view of the northern irish majority was overtruned anti democratically to appease a minority in northern ireland - that is the GFA in a nutshell.

No, you said there were no barriers to trade between the UK and the EU. Have you changed your mind? Link? I'm not going looking for it, Doc. What search words would I use? You clearly said that there were no barriers to trade with the EU in another thread. But you simultaneously say that there are barriers to trade with N.I. This is a farcical position, especially since you yourself have pointed out in this thread that there are fewer barriers to trade with N.I. than with the EU.

The democratic view of the northern irish majority was overtruned anti democratically to appease a minority in northern ireland - that is the GFA in a nutshell. You could look at it that way , but its now the reverse , where the minority( unionists) are vetoing the majority (nationalists)( non unionists) from taking up post as governing party and first minister.
You cant keep moving the goal posts every time unionism is on the back foot. If you remember it wasnt as simple as a minority getting a veto.........we had the disgracefull siutaion of human rights abuses in the old sectarian apartheid state where catholic and nationalists were discriminated against at every level.
They voted to remain in the EU , boris johnson not anyone else gave that the go ahead , and they voted in the last election for a majority of pro protocol candidates.
If you are so concerned with democracy in another country , then why are you using englands vote to overturn a democratic vote to remain in the EU?
The nutshell is why isnt your government taking northern ireland out of the EU if its as simple as unionism , no matter how small a democratic vote share they have on eu issues , being able to veto the GFA and the protocol?
Shall i tell you why? The majority in england scotland and wales dont care , the americans and the europeans are applying political pressure to maintain peace in the province , and the uk government has capitulated over it .

That is the GFA working as designed - if you dont like it take it up with those that agreed it. The GFA gave each community a veto - that is what it was designed to do. You cannot complain when something gets vetoed that you dont like. NI is not in the EU - it has a (flawed) trading arrangement with them. The fact that the Protocol is in conflict with the GFA is down to the flawed way the Protocol was designed - I've said this before, you can have the Protocol or you can have the GFA - you cannot have both.

This is a summary of your position:There are currently substantial barriers to trade between Britain and NI, but these barriers are not as substantial as those which exist between the UK and the EU. Right?

Poor Pacifico has got himself all tied up in knots. On one hand, he wants to claim that Brexit hasn't raised substantial barriers to trade with the EU; on the other hand, he wants to claim that it has created substantial barriers for trade with N.I.
You can't have it both ways, Doc. Especially as you admitted on this very thread that there are more obstacles to trade with the EU than with NI.

The problem appears to be with unionists and some folk in the uk of unionist persuasion.
the northern ireland protocol has not been vetoed.
im not going to argue semantics pacifico. Shall i rephrase it and mention northern ireland retains all the red lines ( eu citizenship , ecj jurisdiction , etc) with the eu brexiters didnt like?
theres absolutely no conflict. What makes you think there is?
The protocol specifically states stormont can vote to end it after the next stormont election , but unionists wont go into power sharing because michelle o neil is the de facto first minisnter and they lost their majority.
If unionists wont sit in parliament , that s not my fault.
