I'd suggest that the reason that union leaders are more 'deal-minded' is that their strikes have had very little effect - even the NHS going on strike didn't cause a ripple.

The man who boasts he has a working brain cell. The enemy the fascist wankers in Westminster have installed in his head to hate today. Is the Unions and Mick Lynch. Yesterday it was the nurses. You know those people who a couple of years ago you stood on the door step and cheered every THURSDAY. . Allow me a copy and paste, to see if your working brain cell understands.. Governments do not have money. Let the tax expert do the talking. This claim assumes that if £28 billion in extra wages is paid out this money just disappears, never to be seen again, and this assumption is so stupid it is laughable - except very few politicians seem to understand this. Let me explain. Let’s start with the fact that if £28 billion is paid out then this will top up existing pay. It will all be taxable and subject to national insurance. Assume tax is 20%, employee NI 12% and employer NI is 13.8% and the full NI cost is included in the £28bn.If you work the maths through the tax paid on that £28bn will be about 40.2% of the total in that case, or £11.3bn. That comes straight back to the government in other words. So the actual cost is already down to £16.7bn. That’s a lot less than £1,000 per household. And when that £16.7bn gets into people’s pockets they will spend it. This means more tax is paid. Not everything has VAT on it, but assuming this new money is the top part of people’s incomes and they’ve already covered the basic costs of living much of it will. So, let’s assume there’s an average of 15% VAT on what is bought with this money. Do the maths and that’s another £2.2bn or so of tax paid. That means the cost is down to £13.5bn now: half has already come back. Then those who get paid this money also pay tax on it. Some will be income tax, and some corporation tax. Some more will be national insurance. We don’t know the mix. Let’s be generous and say it’s 30%. That’s another £4bn of tax paid. Cost now, £9.5bn. But those who get this money will also pay tax on it. And so will the person who gets it after that. In fact, everyone will pay tax on it until some person who is wealthy enough to save gets it and puts it in a deposit account and stops the money rolling. In short the wankers want a strike to invent a new enemy. And it is being swallowed already. By those who are really unhinged. And actually think they are sensible. And the public deserve a elected PM. Not one who was imposed as the patsy. Who now realsies this and who is AWOL., And the bunch of tits in Westminster wiped out. Which is going to happen and why they are orchestrating strikes. It's clearly not working.

That is an odd argument - just because the government wasted money at some time in the past that doesn't mean it has an unlimited budget now. FWIW the spending during Covid was funded by borrowing - so are you really trying to suggest that the country should place itself further in debt to fund generous pay increases for the Public Sector?. How do you mean the past. Bojoke wasted untold billion on the pandemic. Some £37 billion on a app that could not track itself. Not to mention billions on PPE that is now costing £700,000 a day and will have to be destroyed. Making sure the bank accounts of the Tory donors were kept topped up. Truss wasted £30 billion in the space of 44 days. And the untold damage to pension funds. Estimated in total on that 44 days to be in excess of £60 billion. Not to mention the disaster of Brexit. That cost more than the entire money the Uk contributed since it joined the then common market. The ONS now conclude it will be a bigger hit than Covid. When the wankers took power. The debt was £1.1 trillion. That is now £2.8 trillion. Yes that really is £2,800,000,000,000 and rising at over £5,000 per second. Not to mention a QE problem of some £800 billion that wil have to be paid back by your grand kids grand kids. On top of a English up and coming energy crises coming in at around £600 billion to be paid for by the tax payer. Thats me. That estimate going by Hinkley Point billions over budget and years behind schedule. Then add on a decommissioning of some £1 billion a year for ever. And you ranted on the Jock forum about a £70 million cock up on a ferry contract as if it was a nuclear disaster. Your idea and mine of some time in the past.. Is Shall we say - differs.

interesting times ahead i think!

The only problem with that. The EU will not allow the UK back into the EU. That is more than evident. They have had enough of clowns like Farage, Johnston and the balloons in Westminster. Just like the Scots. The EU have made it clear they have no issue with Scotland once it is on its merry own and they will welcome a Indy Scotland into the EU. Plus with the disaster of the last 12 years the present UK economy could not meet the convergence criteria. Or as Philip Hammond has made clear. I repeat verbatim prior to the vote.. “I hope the eventuality won’t arise, because if we do serve an Article 50 notice, that is an irreversible process. It means we are out and there is no way back.” It did arise and for the UK or a indy England there is no way back. It is now very clear. It is beginning to dawn Brexit is a disaster. It is now becoming clear. Scotland has the infra sructue now and once indy. The process of joining the EU if the Scots vote for it. Will be over in 3 years. www.theneweuropean.co.uk/would-europe-really-want-the-awkward-squad-back/

www.theneweuropean.co.uk/would-europe-really-want-the-awkward-squad-back/well i would disagree. Quite obviously i dont think there are many who seriously believe arch europhile starmer doesnt want the uk back i nthe EU.
While i concede it wont be done in a fanfare of trumpets regarding rejoin , it will of course be done stealthily over a number of years by signing up to treaties to gain access to the single market , which means of course as we all know , the more access you require , the more eu rules and regs including the four freedoms you accept.
It will be done stealthily to save englands blushes , but that wont stop the piss taking being worldwide and of epic proportions of course.

It is not a case of disagreeing. Its a case of money. That may well be the thinking of Starmer. The problem is the economy of England is bankrupt. The total mis management of the economy in the last 12 years have placed England on its own in a position, though it did not need to join the Euro. That is a matter for each individual state. England would not meet the convergence criteria to be a member of ERM II. And even if Starmer does win the next election. It will make no difference to broken Westminster. It will still be the laughing stock of the world. As the wankers desperately try to hang onto the Union. Look at the action of that waste of space Dross in the Scottish Parliament. Its pathetic.

At the end of the day its up to the english to rejoin or stay out , but i dont believe many honestly think starmer will keep england or the uk out the eu. They dont have to be all singing and al dancing fully paid up members of the EU to accept al lthe things the english voted against , like the four freedoms , and the nuance behind "rejoin " is many and varied is all im saying.
Anyone trusting the treacherous starmer and his new labour does so at their own peril.

As a indy Scotland I really do not care if England joined or did not join. That is a matter for them. As it stands and for decades it will be impossible for the reason I gave. And you have hit the nail on the head of one of the reason they will not join. The four freedoms. One of them being freedom of movement. Immigration, which had nothing to do with the EU is the main reason why England voted leave. Helped on by Farage and his poster. The fanny swallowed hook line and sinker. And has you can see on here. Still is. But many have seen the light. As the clowns and coco are still waiting on the German car industry to come riding over the hill at sunset, banging on the door of Number 10, demanding that England does a deal. You remember the bravo sierra. The EU needs England more than England needs the EU. Not to mention Scotland exports per head twice as much as England. Thus Scotland has a bigger hit than England. Like you. Just one of the many reason why Scotland can no longer afford bankrupt England. I agree. Starmer is nothing but a red Tory. That is why the Tartan Tory's called Labour have been wiped out north of the border. The Union has nothing to offer Scotland except despots.

And what new found freedom will have to be handed over to the EU. And while you are at it. Would you care to give benefit of Brexit The benefit of Brexit not yet realised is politicians no longer have to answer to Brussels first and foremost, they have to answer to the British people, which as you want no part of you have to answer to Brussels first and foremost. As you asked of course. And how did the politicians have to answer to Brussels. Could you explain that hype. And how do they have to answer to the British people.. In case you have not noticed there has been 4 Prime Ministers this year. None of who have been voted in by the Scots. And three have not been voted in by any body. So far there has been a drop of around 6% in the UK economy due to Brexit. There has been a drop of 37% in inward investment into the UK. The OBR has confirmed there has been a drop of 10% in trade with the EU. As of the end of 2021. And the cost of Brexit since 2016 has now cost the tax payer, that's me. More than the entire contribution the UK has made since it joined the then common market. So I suggest you and I can agree there is no benefit. And never will be. And you gave up your freedom of movement in something like 36 countries. England being the only country in the worlds ever. To vote to make itself poorer. And anything you say. Does not alter the fact. Energy rich Scotland can no longer afford bankrupt England, as it drags it to a race to the bottom.
