As you cannot equate with the Moderates in the Labour Party, that makes you a less moderate individual and makes your opinions of little interest. Especially as you are full of bad opinions about NL/Moderates without even knowing or even showing any interest in the good side of NL and the moderates. In short you have a very unbalanced view of politics, so unbalanced it seems your posts are more about your personal needy feelings than about logic. The fact is that you seklf-describe as moderates even whist doing or espousing some extremist things. Which is why I question how moderate you actually are. Especially once you consider how moderate the 2017 manifesto was, which you somehow think is extremist. And in actual fact I am well aware that New Labour did many good things too. If you want me to acknowledge that then there you are. It did too little in too many areas like housing, however, and did too much else that was bad, much of it based on a continuation of thatcherite policies to be acceptable to me though. The history of NL shows they attempted to look at the full picture, that's what made them a moderate party. The further left or right one goes in politics the more one gets tangled up with one set of problems as witnessed by the actions of Corbyn and Thatcher.

Bentley hope your not saying nurses dont deserve more money ? According to mean spirited right wing pensioners, the magic money tree does not exist for working people who are the ones doing all the work and paying most of the taxes, don't you know? But when it comes to pension increases and pensioner freebies, there is a bottomless pit of course. And the magic money tree seems to be fully functional when it comes to high earners, and to say otherwise is indulging in "the politics of envy". It is curious how only those who have most seem to deserve even more, and more largesse for those who need it the least is the only thing that is right and affordable. Their reasoning is utterly unfathomable to me unless fuelled by an innate malice towards working people

In many areas like housing NL couldn't see the wood for the trees and seemed incapable of recognising obvious problems that needed fixing, let alone seeing the full picture. They were as blinkered as any other political faction might be. And as I have said before, some of what they did was anything but moderate. Most of the 2017 manifesto was actually far more moderate, but you hated that so much you voted Tory. Tory, ffs!!! And you call yourself a moderate, lol.

In many areas like housing NL couldn't see the wood for the trees and seemed incapable of recognising obvious problems that needed fixing, Labour had a far more difficult job to do other than to completely fix the housing market. Yet they built almost as many "affordable" homes for the lower end of the market as the Tories. There is a need to take in the full picture before criticising.

Well, if New Labour can't be bothered to build any more houses and if it does not want to meet the nurses pay demands, it looks as though it has turned into the Tory party we all knew and loved.

Interesting measure of success - just do almost as well as the Tories.. I noticed that as well, lol. I rest my case re New Labour's housing failures that are far bigger than merely the housing to buy sector but are also writ large in the social housing and private sector housing to rent sectors

Q. Who is to blame for the strikes? Before you answer the question, ask yourself a simple question: Did the government call rail workers, NHS, Border Force, Ambulance workers, Driving instructors, Postal workers out on strike, or was it militant left wing trade union barons? Now think about the question again. That's right... A. Trade Unions. Or maybe the economy ? I disagree with some of what the strikers are asking for, and I disagree with what I've seen of what the government is offering. So I blame both. But IMO the government should lead the way out of this mutually harmful impasse.

The Divine Margaret was not noted for her sense of humour, but she would have loved this Who said New Labour couldn't be bothered to build more houses? You obviously didn't digest the post you pretend to reply to. New Labour no longer exists, so it can't meet the nurses pay demand. Mrs. Thatcher, a nasty piece of right-wing ideology who managed to add three million people to the unemployment count, put three million children into relative poverty and lied as she stood on the steps of Number 10, before entering and preparing her 'bull in a china shop' policies. I find it a little strange how extremists so often manage to fool so many of the electorate.

Interesting measure of success - just do almost as well as the Tories.. Given the circumstances it was a success. Its just your ignorant approach that belies any intelligence you might have and allows biased garbage to ooze out of your mind that is at fault

You are aware of the job that NL faced in 1997 i.e. sorting out the economy, high unemployment, a run down NHS, a run down state education system and so on. Yet you have the shitty mindedness to post your post above. Shame on you.

It’s the mismanagement of the economy and the polarisation of the country over the past seven years that’s exacerbated the unrest among working people. Thatcher had calmed union excesses and had brought sanity back to industrial relations.
In recent years, however, lying, cheating and propagandising have became normal across many sectors of society — and unions are now taking their lead from government…
