To be fair, we have a transgender employee working in my supermarket workplace, and none of the staff think it is in any way a big deal. One or two of the older staff members have voiced concerns about her using the female staff toilets, and I have heard some snarky comments from a couple of customers before. But most customers aren't bothered either. People who get upset about such things are either very sad people, or very lucky not to have anything more important to worry about Indeed. Tescos have diversity learning modules ( or whatever ) . There isn’t any overt gay or transgender workers in my shop but if there were I’m not sure how the Romanian shoppers would react tbh. I have several gay, undefined etc among my staff. Our HR had conversations with them to see if there was anything they needed from us. Nothing but respect was pretty much the answer. |

One company I worked for was family run. A daughter of one of the directors was a huge 20st Lesbian who insisted that there was to be no prejudice in this company . She fell in love with a rather toxic bisexual woman and left the company when they sacked the toxic bisexual . That’s love for you .
Anyway the same company employed many East European ladies in one department. When the English Forelady complained that the aforesaid East European ladies are always playing up and the ( male) management never backed her up , she was told it was because they had bigger tits than her.
Prejudice comes in many guises .

I have several gay, undefined etc among my staff. Our HR had conversations with them to see if there was anything they needed from us. Nothing but respect was pretty much the answer. That was all that they were due. Its all they want, but it still takes input, for the vestiges of bigotry are still lingering. Less each year, but there are still those who think gay is a lifestyle choice, still those who think a woman cannot be born into a mans body. Those who don't understand sexuality is a mental thing not a physical one. When I meet such a man (its usually men) I always ask how much money would they like to switch to shaggin men. Apparently its a very expensive life style choice as no one has taken me up on it. |
