Better idea Swap the metal paperclips for plastic ones, should save about the same amount. 🙄 Did you work that out with a calculator or your fingers and thumbs? The point was to take out parts of the NHS administration that is not absolutely necessary for it to function and use those resources to fund a study with the aim of making the NHS more productive and efficient. If we use your idea of using plastic paper clips instead of metal ones , we can save twice the amount. I suppose you want the NHS to continue to be a political football and a bottomless money pit. Did you bother to do any working out at all before you wrote. As regards which parts of the NHS administration that is not absolutely necessary for it to function, how do you know what's necessary. You just picked something you don't like.

Some things fly right past some people So why do you let it then? I am only here to educate the ignorant. Ah Jonsky Clarkson. The man with a working brain cell. Let me educate you and your wifes £3000 pay rise. From April 2003, National Insurance Contributions were increased to boost NHS funding. This increased the share of NHS funding that comes from National Insurance Contributions, but general taxation still accounts for the vast majority of NHS funding. That's the government, with yours and my money. In addition, a small proportion of NHS funding comes from patient charges. These include charges for prescriptions and dental treatment first introduced in the early 1950s. In 2019/20, income from patient fees and charges for prescriptions and dental care was £1.5 billion, or 1.1 per cent of the total Department of Health and Social Care budget. Individual NHS organisations – such as hospital trusts – can generate additional income, for example, through parking charges, land sales and treating private patients. So how in your working brain cell do you work out the government has nothing to do with pay rises. The NHS is experiencing the longest and most severe slowdown in funding in its history. This has raised questions about the sustainability of its funding model.Apart from orchestrating strikes for imaginary enemies for arsholes to beleive. Why are they stopping a pay rise. www.reuters.com/world/uk/uk-health-unions-offer-pause-nhs-strikes-if-government-joins-pay-talks-guardian-2022-12-10/ .

I can only hope you wouldn't speak to kindergarten children so rudely, I predict a short career. 😂 🤣 Don’t worry yourself over may career mate. Whist answering your non point my bank account has risen another couple of K…The last thing I need is anyone to worry about my finance’s or well being. Oh and BTW my partner the nurse has just had a 3£ k bonus for doing her job. Good innit? I suppose. My wife left the NHS to work for my company ten years back, now she does as she likes. I employ 112 people so I guess I'm doing OK as well. But that wasn't my point. You are rude crass and condescending, not the qualities we really want in a teacher. Not to mention your lack of knowledge.

You do know it's possible to work 48 hours in just 3 days don't you You do know in some professions that would be illegal.
I would think the NHS more so, who wants a brain surgeon operating on you when he has done a 48 hour shift in 3 days ... no thanks.
In your case you do not have a problem.

You just picked something you don't like. I didn’t offer it as a complete solution . Just as you didn’t offer the plastic / metal paper clip comparison as a complete refutation( maybe you did). I picked something that I am confident would not result in the immediate collapse of the NHS if it were discontinued. The fact that you think it would answers a lot of questions .

I don't believe it's illegal and the RCN certainly argues for 12 hours maximum with min 11 hour breaks but that they have to so argue suggests that level is not infrequently broken and double shifts are being worked. The other possibility Jonksy didn't consider in his 3 days on, 4 days off is a fair number of nurses are part time workers because of family commitments And as for his other jibe the longest shift I can recall working is ~30 hours, I often worked over 50 hours a week and some times over 80 hours. When your team are working similar to meet a deadline you don't walk out on them.
