Prosperity, an aircraft developed by Chinese company AutoFlight, in February became the first eVTOL to complete a cross-sea intercity flight between Shenzhen and Zhuhai, 70 kilometers southwest. The uncrewed flight covered a journey that would typically take two hours by car in 20 minutes. Look, what you are seeing here is just the very start of a huge revolution. By the time the Brits have had enough proof it will be too late. We lost the EV car industry to the Chinese and now we are going to lose the EVtol industry to them as well and by the time we get round to building EVs everyone will be flying.
Why the fuck do we behave like such laggards all the time? Back in the 70s I remember the Tomorrow's World ethos of the future is good, the future will make life easy and all your chores will vanish.
I do not think people remotely understand what this means. The ground is 2 dimensional. Road is very expensive and you got to knock all sorts of things down often to build one. Air on the other hand comes for free and has always been there.
This means you can have your road network many times over. Like you can have a road network at 500m, another at 750m, another at 1000m and so on. That's a lot of road and it never ever wears out no matter how much traffic passes.
Now consider goods. Goods are costly to move around. What if you could shift goods from one location to another for virtually free with no human labour.
Now consider how a country with all this will compete with a country without any of it and one who has a fascination for steam engines and horseback. Yes our green warriors will not be content with the bicycle. They want to regress us further than that!
By the way, have you seen the new two-wheeled car? It's self-levelling.

Bikes have one wheel in front of the other. This thing is like two wheels the height of the car on either side. You should see it park. It's only a prototype but I was told it was invented by the inventor of the hoverboard.

No they are not, some outlets have some need for genuineness in the messages they put out, many private organisations such as GB News, Bloggers, Social Media and comments made by politicians are free to do as much political damage as they choose. Newspapers, often being privately owned are open to be as politically biased as they choose, which include derogation and insinuation, both of which are designed to influence the naive. They do it because they know it works, if it didn't work they wouldn't waste their time doing it. Of course it is the 'message not the messenger', BUT when the messenger is repeatedly posting or printing bias or is exaggerating an infrequent problem into a major cause for concern, then both should be exposed. Batteries are impractical.
The future fuel of transportation is hydrocarbon based.
No other fuel has anywhere near the same calorific value per kilo.
Fuel cells are the most efficient way to harness them for ground vehicles and sea.
Battery tech isn't good enough. Why do you think Formula One has gone over to synthetic fuels rather than batteries?
