That's because of the disastrous Truss whom you lot of membership fools seem to love. Sunak or anyone else is unlikely to undo her damage very quickly if at all. Which particular political madness are the Left backing today? You wanted Sunak and got him, the amusement watching you back him is fun, fun, fun. If you think I back Sunak you need to go give your head a wobble.

Well I'm not sure who is being stupid as the polling support for the Tory party has got worse since Johnson was deposed That's because of the disastrous Truss whom you lot of membership fools seem to love. Sunak or anyone else is unlikely to undo her damage very quickly if at all. If you had left it to the membership they would never have got rid of Johnson.

Running a country is so simple, to the simple minded. According to their manifestos it is. Which the simple minded vote for, not you of course, oh but wait!!! So you do not understand what a manifesto is, no surprise there Nor do you understand the broad church nature of political support, again, no surprise there

If you are willing to dismiss pretty much all politicians as dishonest then you are wrong and you have a problem. You must have some idea of the area of politics that you find most agreeable, but you seem reluctant to name it. That sounds like you would have me compromise. Most politicians are dishonest when they get herded into the voting lobbies despite disagreeing with the issue at hand. I'm awaiting answers from MPs going back over a year in one case, ever fobbing me off with excuses for not coming up with an answer. Meanwhile I respond to posters on here, with little or no delay as do you and don't come up with the argument about their workload, they have an army of support; see if you can find footage of Sunak leaving the recent international meeting in Egypt with his aides, it looked like a full regimental march. Not every politician agrees with everything their party does, just as not every party supporter agrees with the party over all changes made. People come together under a common cause, that common cause being the direction the party would have the nation move in. The problem is that without unity the opposition are likely to win most of the votes in the lobbies.

If you had left it to the membership they would never have got rid of Johnson. The stupidity of which would itself have doomed you to defeat. Every Joe and his grandad could see what a liability he had become with his blatant lying and total lack of integrity, both of which had become obvious to all. Except that is the old fools who make up the bulk of the membership.

But many disagree on an issue yet are forced to vote "Yea" for various reasons, some of which result from being blackmailed; that is just one area of dishonesty (lying). The direction a party would have the nation move in has failed too many times to be considered even remotely right. The whole idea of Parliament voting procedure is a joke that keeps on giving and so long as it continues, so will the wrong decisions be made, It's a shame that so many venerate those who govern.

If you have evidence of politicians being "blackmailed" into voting in the lobbies, then firstly I would disagree with that and secondly if you have evidence of such taking place I would appreciate it if you would post it. You have just ignored the points I made in my earlier post and I don't want to repeat myself.

It is the first time I have heard of such, it seems to be the state that Boris has allowed the party to get into. Blackmail seems obvious enough, it will be interesting to see if there is any loss of support or prosecutions for the Tory Whips over this. I might check to see if there is any history of this extreme sort of behaviour in the past.

I remember some 5 or 6 years ago that a senior civil servant exposed the blackmail used by Whips.

Fair comment, I was unaware of such malpractices but even so I don't go along with the idea that all politicians are dishonest.

It certainly shows the disciplinary job done by the Whips, but not a lot of wrongdoing. The sentence from the site you posted reads __" There is no doubt that on occasion this information could be abused to blackmail MPs into conformity. More often, it is put to pastoral use."__
