Your only achievement is to get me to read Huffington, something I stopped a long time go. Leaving aside the effect of COVID, let's look at the reasons BREXIT has worked the way it has. Since 23 June 2016 we had Cameron shitting out and Theresa May taking over. We have had the self agrandising Gina Miller, we have had Theresa May blocking the path to a decent BREXIT conclusion, sacking the team and replecing it with her poodle. Then came along Boris the Idiot whose only ambition was "to get BREXIT done" come what may. I was on another forum in the lead up to the referendum and my view was, and still is, that we should have immediately put forward our terms and if the EU didn't like them, we leave without a deal, lock, stock and barrel. Now you and anyone else can try to pick holes in that but what we got was almost 6 years of negotiators being thwarted by May and Boris and almost 6 years of remaining tied to the EU with no chance of doing anything other than eventually sign on the dotted line just to fulfill Boris's dream ticket which has now thankfully expired. Perhaps the politicians aren't quite as dumb as you appear to think, and there are good reasons why the 'simple' just walk away hasn't happened. |

Hardly the saviour, you might be able to claim that sometime in the future, but right now it looks like he is more likely to replace Guy Fawkes on top of some future bonfire And you'd be watching and waving your lickle sparkler. I'm not particularly interested in your opinion on srb7677, IMO a Socialist, unlike being social minded, in a capitalist country is out of place. It is someone who is not just intent on improving conditions, it is someone who wants to introduce serious changes in the economy and to the country. Who like Truss is likely to be Ignoring 'unintended consequences'. I don't think your friend Thatcher would agree with you. Otherwise no problem. (You might consider putting your tedious, sometimes inappropriate attacks on the left and on the NHS to bed). It wasn't difficult for Sunak to improve on what went before him. The idea that politicians take responsibility for the outcome of their decisions is only true when something turns out for the best and even then it may well not be due to them; I've known too many of them to think they're good decision makers. |
